Oh this is beautiful!! It gives me Zelda vibes (yk, the desert city/cities if you know the game. Always the coolest landscapes and cities). My theme for June is Oranges/citrus fruit and I'm proud to say this is my first very own theme and I love it! Don't know why I felt like saying that but yeah. Also subscribing to the reading channel asap!

What a beautiful spread! I‘m more a card maker and sometimes I do matching envelopes. To protect the design on the envelope I use micro glaze from Ranger/ Tim Holtz. I like it because it doesn‘t affect the brightness of the colors. But I can‘t say how good it works in a journal or with alcohol makers.

For help with smudge if you have a scanner and printer you could just draw on regular card stock or marker paper or what have you and scan it in before printing on the sticker paper so you don't have to buy a new set of markers. Might be cheaper in the long run... Also what I do.

Always use a spray sealant over alcohol, preferrably Krylon Varnish, otherwise it will do that, but even with the varnish it may run, so be extra careful

Such a beautiful image! ❤ Two suggestions (not sealants I’m afraid) you could also get some clear sticker paper to put over the top or if you have one you could scan your image and print a copy out.

Alcohol is a very unstable medium - and it never sets firm. You could try Ranger Ink collage medium - that is designed to be an over the top sealant as well as a glue for mixed media work.

Happy summer! Have you considered using clear sticker paper over your drawings? It could be at least a temporary solution while you find something better because I know it will take away from the photograph-ability of the set ups due to light reflections.. maybe you could batch the content you need before sealing it with the sticker paper?

Girl! This is one of the prettiest themes I have ever seen!! 😍 I love it! I’m wondering if there is a sealant type of spray that could be used so you don’t have to worry about smudging color with a brush. I’m curious to hear what you find and I’m excited for your alcohol marker video! They are my favorite for smooth colors too and I wish someone would develop a bujo that could handle them without bleeding already 😂

thank you so much! i’ve heard of watercolor journals that can withstand paint… i wonder if that would hold alcohol markers..? also i know ohuhu just came out with a sketchbook that can hold alcohol markers so maybe that will transition into journals soon ..?

I'm really surprised that you have problem with the alcohol marker once they are dry. I have been using promarker for a few years now and I have never seen my drawing rubbing on the next page. It's annoying to change brand but maybe that's something to experiment with? Also if you want to apply a protective layer maybe try a spray varnish. It will avoid smudging with a brush even if the solvent activate the alcohol marker again.

First! Your artwork is just beautiful, I love the theme, your color choices and everything about this design. Advice requested: A spray fixative is a good option because it wont smear but on sticker paper it could still run easily, for very saturated work you could use clear contact paper to prevent the color transferring to other pages of your journal; if you don't mind the glossy look. Additionally, using a different paper would solve these issues. Sticker paper doesn't absorb the ink the way other paper types do, instead the ink sits on top and will eventually dry but your looking at a day or so instead of an hour or so. If you were to use a mixed media or marker paper you wouldn't need a sealant and could just glue your artwork into your journal.

you make a great point! my issue is a thicker paper like marker paper adds thickness to my journal unlike sticker paper. but maybe i’ll try it anyway for a future setup to see if it works better. :))

I love your theme. I only use Ohuhu alcohol markers in my journal and have no issues with smudges because I draw on Ohuhu mix media paper and then use scotch glue sticks to glue everything down.Sometimes I use Canson watercolor paper. I believe this is best for alcohol markers so that you maintain color integrity for years to come.

I don't know how much this will help, but you could put a matte, clear sticker sheet over it prior to cutting out the page? It should provide more protection without the risk of taking forever to dry or smudge the ink.

Maybe in the meantime, you could use cardstock or any paper to place between the art and your spread when you close your journal, so it won't bleed onto the spread

I make stickers with printable vinyl paper and sometimes the deeply pigmented colors bleed onto the opposite page. The only solution I’ve found is to cut a piece of acid free tissue paper or Kleenex if you’re in bind and place it between your pages. Could this work for you?

@@mingostudio Yes it absolutely agree. It does get super annoying, but as with everything in life, nothing is perfect. Oh if you’re looking for an amazing Oldie but a Goodie book. Try a Knight in Shining armor by Jude Devereaux. It’s one I would sell my soul to read for the first time again. Love your stuff. I wish I had your artistic talent. That’s why I use stickers 😊
