After the two interviews with ABK, my views on him changed. He was a fine diplomat tilldate. The press in nigeria made him look like judace iscariot becos of june 12 palava. But he wasnt. Several thing stands him out, he was a kind man gentleman, a democrat, a fine diplomat and experienced civil servant. Well am versed to my good friend from that part of from Biu, Bornu state whom we both attended ABU zaria together, in person of Ahmadu Betara. He had shared some of these political intrigues with me be4 now. Although the way they saw nigeria issues is different from the way we see it in the western nigeria. We re all victims of military govt. Most of Nigeria's problems today were fermented by these undemocratic bunch of military men. They were rouges in uniform and all of them in AFC felt they could become head of state by guns. Am glad they have now been confined to their army barracks. Renegade armies of nigeria! As part of the 'untold story', Abiola himself was unaware that he would be traveling out of Nigeria by midnight of Monday, August 2, 1993 before the MEETING. The decision was reached around 4.30am on Tuesday. Alhaja Kudirat Abiola was the only wife and family member that had a hint of what transpired. One day Nigerians will know why Chief Abiola suddenly had to leave and how he, inadvertently, saved the Federal Republic, not himself as Babagana's interview has suggested. See clip of his address to the UN General Assembly for a clue

Why did he claim that what the world witnessed in Sierra Leone and Liberia would be a child's play if the military refused to honour the June 12 mandate? He wasn't an army general or a warlord. Apparently, he had revealed what he saw to BBG, the then UN General Secretary and the Security Council. The information will be declassified in due course. God bless Nigeria

And the fact remains his wasn’t in good terms with abiola right after that till he died. Very important to keep in your mind while you listen to him. Who could guarantee he wasn’t part of what happened to abiola? Never knew his details like this. I just have issues with the fact he couldn’t talk sense into abiola, instead he continued fully on the opposite. Maybe because he and abacha are from the north

I described him as a betrayal of the highest order, even when Abiola died one expected him to come out and protest with millions of Nigerians people who stood behind Abiola. Same thing Buhari did to late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo was died while protesting their election defeat in which he was a running mate to Buhari. Sadly, Buhari spend 8 years as president of Nigeria, without a minute to tribute to his fallen running mate. Shame on you people

Babagana Kingibibe while branding Orissa Abiola as naive and at the same time was upset at Abiola attacking him for joining Abaca, pretended that he did not realise that his decision was the ultimate coup against June 12's indissoluble presidency : that once either or the presidential candidate or his vice president joins Abacha , the sacredness of that mandate has been breached. Citing Jakande and Bolaji Akinyemi as joining Abacha is not the same as Kingibe or Abiola directly joining as that eventuality made the retrieval of the indivisible mandate impossible. Abacha must have outmanouvred Kingibibe himself by pretending they could both sideline Abiola and he would hand over to Kingibe as his ethnic sibling if it proved difficult for the military to hold on to power. Of course other Nigerians saw this larger picture being no fools, of the North never wanting power to rotate to the South at the time. What series of interviewers failed to ask Bagangina and Kingibe is why either or both did not prevail on Abacha to release Abiola to a protective custody in his own house if not that he was being held as ransome and hostage in case anything happened to Abacha in which case he would not be let out alive as it eventually happened. It was not Abacha who outmanouvred Oosa Abiola, it was Kingibe who connived with his ethno- military champion annoyed that he had been left out of the group nominated into the interim government to dine with the Abacha devil with a long spoon, in case he (Abacha) defaulted on his gentleman agreement, and he ( Abacha) never being an officer iand gentleman but a glorified subaltern. In the final analysis of the they orchestrated the inevitable : of Oosa and Abiola being able to catapulted the to being the latest addition of the Orisa pantheon consecrated for their valour like Sango and Ogun. Oosa Abiola demonstrated what Alaafin Adeyemi the Great said in Apomu ( the Apomu doctrine) that All the valiant Yoruba Eso ( field commanders) and their Kakanfo (overall generalissimos) understand that they abhor being felled from behind and that it is either victory in warfare or death on the battlefront. In Abiola's case it is dual Godhead of Yoruba and Nigerian pedigree. Look who had the last laugh on puny humans and bowed out in a blaze of glory :, Oosa Abiola! Prince Yinka Agbetuyi Educationist

Carefully applied cultural colouration to justify his reason for accepting to be part of Abacha’s government. When he used the term culturally, for me, that was the giveaway that he could not rise above tribal sentiment in his decision. Like every politician of Nigerian extract, he is self serving.

Sometimes, it's hard to see that people becomes unforgivable in life when it comes to matters of life. MKO Abiola passed away long time ago and still people are saying negative things about June, 12. I don't know whether such condemnations and or blames will bring back Abiola to this world. Abiola is gone and so do June, 12 hence, no amount of blames and condemnations will bring the two back. Why don't we just call it over and move on. Condemning other tribes in this regard will not help matters. Unless of course if a person already had his own mindset or scores to settle and took advantage of that. I think is high time to call a spade spade and forget about all this please.

Bottom line, we black people are inept and cannot govern themselves. All these politicians and military men torpedoed the progress of a great nation and we are suffering the consequences up till today. Africa is a mess , we like to blame the West for our problems but our people have a huge part to play in the destruction of our continent. Can we point to any nation in the world governed by black people that is successful? There is none. we hear great things about Rwanda but wait until kagame dies or is booted out of office and see what happens to Rwanda. All these revisionist history being recounted by retired politicians and military men like Babangida is laughable. Nigeria is in trouble big time and I am sorry to say , but this new crop of politicians cannot save us.

You are just telling us why Abiola was not sworn in. He reneged on the agreement with Yar'Adua to pick Atiku as VP. Yar Adua may have forgiven Abiola if he didn't pick Kingibe but Yar' Adua felt Kingibe had betrayed him after Yar'Adua was disqualified and Kingibe decided to run for President. Yar'Adua created Kingibe during the days from People Front (PF), he funded Kingibe to beat the PSP Candidate Mohd Arzika who was sure on to win the SDP Chairmanship. Yar'Adua felt betrayed and latched out, the rest is history. Babangida has to tell this story in full before he dies. Otherwise Atiku needs to come clean... these are the only people left who can tell us what happened.
