Spiders see way better than humans can, on 360° and three color channels that is. They can actually see more colors than humans can. Moreover, jumping spiders see in High-Definition, meaning they can see at a higher resolution then any other animal species, including humans. Whenever you close in on a jumping spider to get a closer look... they'll already have seen you move toward them... and will face you and stare right back at you, watching your every move.

Over here we several spiders available locally, 2 of them are the Brown Recluse and Tiger Spider, the former can easily kill you, the latter is one of ther few predators for the former. You don't want to kill all spiders you don't want to save all spiders, just help your local spiders responsibly :)

I was handling a magnolia green the other day, and it successfully pounced on a gnat which had landed on me and made off with her catch! I wonder often while I'm shooting how much I'm disturbing my subjects, as much as I try to be non-intrusive, and it's nice to know that sometimes at least they just opportunistically go about their lives. It's such a cool feeling. Thanks for sharing this small moment.

I live in coastal Alabama, and there are several species of jumpers here. It always pleases me to meet one. They seem intelligent, friendly, very inquisitive, and yes, they're quite cute too. I coaxed one of them onto my hand in my workshop awhile back, and took it outside. It jumped off my hand and grabbed a small black fly, so fast I didn't see it happen. Amazing how agile and quick these little guys are.

I am in Virginia for vacation in the Blue Ridge Mts right now and I came across a black bodied one with pale legs. I enjoy this type of spider very much for their friendliness and natural sense of wonder they possess. The spider I saw was male, looking up at me from the arm of my chair as I'm sitting on the front porch and I put my finger near him and he scurried away but returned. So I held my whole hand out and stayed that way for a few moments until he trusted me enough and jumped on my hand. We looked at each other for a good five minutes, let him crawl on my arms and chest and he'd hop on my hand when I would place it near him because he was trying to crawl towards my head and I didn't want to lose sight of him for fear of hurting him. I put him on the ground and he hopped away and now one of his buddies showed up to the right of me on the house.

In my country, Danmark (spelt “Denmark” by many foreigners - it’s in Northern Europe) I've only come across one species. I believe we call it “zebraedderkop” = zebra spider, because it appears to be striped in black and white. It's tiny, and I've only seen them on sunlit walls, where they like to pounce on small insects from above. When they jump, they fasten a thread to the wall, which enables them to stop at any split second they want. I've yet to photograph one.

Spiders may not be the prettiest of creatures but there’s something oddly cute about the jumping spider.

I seen a beautiful black and blue jumping spider a few days ago, but there's a lot of crazy looking spiders too here in Oklahoma.
