Yeah, Reyes’ best shot of beating La Cruz was at Tokyo. He’s past his best now though, won’t be a threat to the very best at 92kg.

In the pro’s, he’d have got clipped against elite opposition over 12 rounds. Perfectly suited to the amateur format in my opinion

@@taylorohiggins1734 I'd have to agree and disagree with what you say. Yes, over a longer duration someone would certainly catch up or cotton on to his style. But the peddle back peakaboo refined style could still be effective in the pros. Can you remember Hector 'Macho' Camacho?

Mainly because he doesn’t sit down on his punches - prioritises mobility. Pernell Whitaker was a much better puncher than he was given credit for, but similarly preferred to hit on the fly rather than plant his feet.

He’s also 33, possibly older, and has been competing for two decades. It’s natural to see La Cruz slowing down, especially at a new weight. Time waits for no man

Nonsense of boxing? You may not like his style, but he’s one of the greatest amateurs ever. He’d get clipped against the elite over 12 rounds, but in his prime he’d outbox just about anyone in the amateur format.
