Great review. It's a fantastic vehicle however with the SA economy and current times, I feel it's overpriced. Tick a few boxes and you're over R1 million. And that too, it's just a pretty entry level C Class. For me, I'm sticking with my bakkies 😂

Acoustic locking (aka the hoot) can be disengaged in the settings. It’s all a matter of preference.

Still a good looking car, and I'm sure you feel like royalty wafting around in it, but it also feels like just more of the same old same old. With the transition to electric evolving from a ripple to a tsunami, it is hard to find any excitement in another expensive and incrementally improved dinosaur burner.

Try the Chery Tiggo 7 pro voice assistant..

There is a way to press the key/in the dash menu and it will silence the hooter on lock if thats not your style i silenced mine on the older model. Very cool car i agree the screen is a bit too big give us a volume knob like why is that not just in every car...

I love me a car with 140kW of power and higher. Only problem is they are kak expensive now for absolutely no reason at all. The hatchbacks are even worse, Audi's 40 TFSI costs about R710 600 without extras. The worst brands are BMW and Merc have 110/115/120kW hatchbacks at ridiculous prices. It is just crazy.

I test drove one. It's okay. It's not great but okay. The W204 C Class had far far better base speakers. Since then Mercedes has cut costs so you are forced to upgrade to the better system which is sad. I have a 2014 E Class with base speakers and it sounds 10 times better than the C Class and new E Class base speakers.

@@heroericxu1634 It's definitely better than the 205. The 205 had terrible base speakers. I couldn't believe those were even in a Mercedes.

Mercedes made the computerised woman inside their infotainment system as realistic as possible... "She doesn't understand me" 🤣😜

Agree with the too much tech sentiment. Bring back the buttons! And tech ages terribly. Since when does luxury mean screens everywhere? Look at a Chiron interior, beautifully crafted out of high end materials. A Rolex is NOT a smartwatch. I don't agree with the SUV fad. It's a compromised vehicle. Heavier (so consumes more fuel and more sluggish, worse braking). Ironically people feel safer in them but they are less safe with the worse breaking and high center of gravity means worse handling and body roll. Space is no more than most sedans, if you really need space get an estate.

You can change the settings so the car doesn't beep at you when it's locked, I turned it off on my E-Class because I don't want to announce to my entire road at night that I'm arriving home.

A mini mini S-Class because it is a smaller version of the E-Class, which is a smaller version of the S-Class. I hate it when manufactures do this. It's still a good looking car though

The high price is not unique to this c class. Many cars that averaged 300k are now 500k. 500k are now 700k. 700k are now a million plus. It’s the horrible economics of car pricing. That’s why Haval & other brands are making inroads. But many people (money not being an issue) would choose a Merc/Audi/Jaguar/BMW anyday over a cheaper but lesser known brand

As an Aussie I have Been to Cape Town & I think that's a perfect place for the review. It's a beautiful vehicle & the MBUX is a great system. We no longer get diesel variants here unfortunately with MB Aust no longer interested in importing them here .

Even I have to admit they just not as cool and nice as before these sedans. They make sense as a first car but after that? Nop.

i hate tech in cars. they malfunction, are expensive to replace, hard to touch, hard to slide, hard to press accurately, sometimes they lagggggg, attract fingerprints. manufacturers need to stop

You will not pay less than R1mil if you tick the boxes…beautiful car and everything, but I’d rather go for a hilux and drive it forever and a day

I test drove one. The screen is very easy and simple to use. It's very intuitive so buttons are really not missed. For me the most disappointing aspect was the interior material quality. Build quality feels solid but the material quality is awful with a lot more hard plastic used versus the old generations of C Class. At over R1 million it didn't even have navigation, electric seats (just partial), radar cruise or Lane keeping and blind spot monitoring all of which is standard in a R400k Haval Jolion. So I was just overall disappointed. The premium brands are no longer worth their price premium because they don't offer anything over and above mainstream brands anymore. There's no more impeccable material quality, no more great engines (there used to be 6 cylinder options which makes a Mercedes feel like a Mercedes) and they are not even ahead on technology because everyone has the tech these days. So what is there? Nothing. Kinda sad.

Just came across this channel and I am here to stay😉😉

I’ll take this car in estate guise and AMG trim over an SUV any day.

I've got a W205 coupe & I kin love it... Next up is an E Class convertible I hope. Keeps me honest paying for it. FYI I'm a Merc fanboy just can't imagine life without it. Or others in the future. I feel like I'm consoling my friend with an Audi when he braggs about I'ts features.
