This is a bit of magic right before our eyes! Not very often does such a meeting take place of an actress meeting the woman she plays in a famous movie. And such wonderful chemistry they had with each other!

Hm? It's not really that rare. Actors almost always meet with the person they are portraying in order to portray them better. It's quite standard. What's less common is having it filmed like this.

Audie Murphy once played himself. That's why 'To hell and back' will always be my favorite war movie, the only one I know of where a genuine, real life war hero is literally being played by the man himself.

God bless Maria. She ended up being a loving mom, even a bit disciplinarian, but that's the Austrian in her. And a leader. Think about it, 2 world wars, a refugee, and with family.

I was singing away during my regular church service, standing and enjoying the fellowship of the very nice lady next to me dressed in a Scandinavian outfit. My pastor, Kathryn Kuhlman, stopped the service and announced, "Today is very special. We are blessed to have the real Maria Von Trapp in our presence. Maria-Take a bow! We love you, dearly." Here I had been singing with THE reason for "Sound of Music." Not too many others can brag like I can!

When the original musical play The Sound of Music first opened on Broadway in 1959, Maria von Trapp attended performances of the show about once a month. She became friends with Rodgers and Hammerstein. Many people in the audience didn't know who the nice lady was that was sitting with them. Then when the movie was made in 1965, she enjoyed that as well. And she became friends with Julie Andrews.

really good yodeling is a skill. I recently came across some videos here with alphorns (those horns that are so long you have to rest the end on the ground) and they were amazing. It was almost like a trombone choir. they were able to play much more harmonically complex pieces than I would have ever imagined. The videos were taken at some kind of competition, so I would have expected them to be good. If your only exposure to alphorns is a Riecola commercial, you should go check it out.
