Made out like they are climbing Everest at the back end of the season with the clock ticking and the project edging ever closer to failure. And then just at the last minute, mankind finally , finally does it. Slides. Along a piece of .. something.... in a wave pool. Utterly spellbinding achievement.. and I’m just as guilty cause I watched till the end.😖

In a wave pool - solid anchor, solid supports (snowboard style) wedge shaped bottom to take on the wave - it'd look gnarly at first being out of the water but with consistent waves it'd be in the same spot on the wave each time.

A year of planning and this was the best anchor system they could come up with? Some high IQ's working on this lol. Wonder how much they spent on this project. Still a fan JW, but just sayin.

I'd design it with a remote control to constantly be able to move in the pool or the ocean with a water ballast on the bottom that fills up with water and makes it heavy enough so it won't be flying around as much when you find the sweet spot on the wave and should always right itself up if it flips over. That's how I'd do it if had the 💰

Patrick Fitzgerald oh really? Can you link me curious to see. Yeah I agree. It’s interesting tho but seems like especially in this case kind of a waste of money. A year in production?! On the other side I think it starts to build an interesting narrative towards the future of surfing and seeing where the sport can be taken. The rail def belongs more so in man made wave pool and we are looking at a hybrid of wakeboarding/ snowboarding with surfing. But at its heart surfing is a natural occurring thing. It’s a way of life. I believe we are starting to see the evolution of the sport tho

Maybe the next iteration, the bottom off the he rail needed a hull like a boat, streamlining when the wave goes under it, more likely to stay in position than just a flat bottom.

Heavy bottomed rail pulled by a jet ski against and incoming wave with a surfer on it- can slide the rail, the weight of it means it goes through the wave, and ideally ahead of the curl. Would take some practice to get the timing but the anchor thing does not seem to work, as shown here.
