Julian Assange returns to Australia a free man after US espionage charge

The WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has walked free from a court in the US Pacific island territory of Saipan after pleading guilty to violating US espionage law, in a deal that left him free to return home to Australia and brought an end to an extraordinary 14-year legal saga.

How Ironic the guardian reports this when they did nothing to stand by him after publishing his info and then let him rot in prison. I have lost complete respect for the Guardian and all the corporate 'news' sources. the empire made him lie in exchange for his freedom and where was the Guardian? If they didn't protect or defend him, do we really think they'll help any other journalist under the boot crush of the empire?

If you look into it, the current AUS govt did alot diplomatically in getting him released. Questions do need to get asked of the previous govt officials however. Additionally, It's not just the previous AUS govt, the UK govt had a part to play as well in trying to enforce his extradition to the US. Fortunately, the UK court system has proven to be above politics and has enforced laws and regulations that have prevented the Tories from getting away tossing away basic human rights.

Julian is recovering from hiding in embassies (throwing his own feces on the walls) and being in jail because he helped trump win the 2016 election by giving Putin stollen hacked information on trump’s opponent. I was happily waiting to watch him rot in a US Federal prison so I was surprised to see he got a get out of jail card, hopefully he spilled the goods on trump for this, if not then this will be just another reason Garland needs to be fired. Julian is a criminal, not a journalist.

When the Guardian was not silent about Julian Assange, they were smearing him. I cannot think of a media more instrumental in his demise than the Guardian, hope karma catches up.
