How Ironic the guardian reports this when they did nothing to stand by him after publishing his info and then let him rot in prison. I have lost complete respect for the Guardian and all the corporate 'news' sources. the empire made him lie in exchange for his freedom and where was the Guardian? If you look into it, the current AUS govt did alot diplomatically in getting him released. Questions do need to get asked of the previous govt officials however. Additionally, It's not just the previous AUS govt, the UK govt had a part to play as well in trying to enforce his extradition to the US. Fortunately, the UK court system has proven to be above politics and has enforced laws and regulations that have prevented the Tories from getting away tossing away basic human rights.
