Julia Bradbury follows the Wainwright Walks on Crinkle Crag and Bowfell
This was part of the first series of walking programmes with Julia produced by Skyworks for BBC4. It was deemed as one of the most successful of its time. Pass through Stool End Farm at the top end of Great Langdale and head up to Oxendale and cross the beck before taking a steady climb beside Browney Gill. You will end up at Red Tarn and from here you head northwest across some peaty grassland. The scrambling then begins as you head up between Crinkle Crags and Bowfell. You then pass an unmistakable feature known as Great Slab. From here it is then a short walk to one of the most shapely summits in the whole of Lakeland. Amazing place
We did crinkle crags & Bowfell, absolutely stunning environment, especially looking over to Scafell pike from the summit of Bowfell. We filmed it for our channel too.
Did this Saturday. Reverse of what I did last year. Stunning walk, even if clouds were low as they often are around there, so you dont get the views you see in this video. The bad step is slightly challenging especially in icy wet conditions .
