Juki LU 562 Bobbin Case Removal, How to load the bobbin and lift the thread

I show how to remove and clear the bobbin case from the hook assembly of the Juki LU-562. Sometimes a thread can get trapped and jammed under the bobbin case and so the case needs to be removed to clear the race.

    My mother THANKS YOU!!!. Her Singer 111W153 upholstery machine had thread stuck in the bobbin that locked it up. Looking through KZread for repair videos, and noticed that the parts shown in the thumbnail image for your video looked similar to her machine, then played it to see they were exactly the same. You can see the the singer name and part # on the Juki machine of yours. Machine runs smoothly now.

    My LU1508NH, new, constantly has this issue of “not able to turn”. Nothing is jammed, but I just can’t make the mechanisms that are supposed to turn (from hand wheel to bobbin case) turn. That little tongue on the bobbin case keeps hitting the notch (though it’s meant to be in there, so I don’t know what’s going on).

    Thanks so much for this tutorial, I'm going to try this as soon as I can to remove a bit of thread, however, I noticed you put the bobbin in going clockwise, my manuals for these LU machines say to put it in counter clockwise. Does this ever create a problem for you?

  • @AlexanderDyer

    @AlexanderDyer

    7 жыл бұрын

    I've gone back and looked at my manual and it does not specify. I have never had a problem with this. Basically the difference would be realized in the amount of tension upon the bobbin thread and that difference is very slight. I know that different machines call for different orientations. It is my limited experience that as long as you do it the same every time, your adjustments will stay consistent and you will get good stitches from this machine. I realize that on some home machines, (the Singer 201 comes to mind) the orientation of the bobbin is more critical given the design of the hook. Since you have documentation that it should go in counter-clockwise I would stick with that. Thank you Much!

    Correct size tools are absolutely required. If screws get too damaged the prospect of getting them removed becomes daunting and in some cases the entire hook assembly needs replacement. So be extra careful with those screws because you can easily damage them. Sometimes a professional is needed and this may be one of those times.

    Just got an LU 563. When you are feeding the bobbin thread, does the thread need to go under the tensioning spring on the outside of the bobbin case before pulling it up through the feed dog? If so, are there any tricks since there doesn't appear to be any room to do this. Thanks.

  • @AlexanderDyer

    It is one of those things that you just have to make it work. Yes you need the thread to get pulled under that tensioner spring you referred to. One tip is to hold the bobbin from turning with one finger while pulling the thread tail.

  • @AlexanderDyer

    +Maggie Irizarry Hey, relax. Everything is good :) The hook that revolves around the bobbin case is doing its job. The hook plucks the thread off the needle and carries it around the bobbin. That is how the two threads become locked as in lock stitch. Cool Right?

    What I mean is the needle thread gets wrapped around the bobbin. The bobbin goes around and around and either doesn't wrap itself in its own thread or I get a knot/mess and it doesn't work out for me. Please and thank you in advance for any help.

    If the bobbin case opener lever is adjusted improperly the thread can catch there. Operated by hand and see where the thread catches. If you are getting rats nest on bottom of project. those can catch in the hook. In that case you would need to tighten your tension.

  • @ginaconrad613

    @ginaconrad613

    Well I had replaced the original bobbin case because the spring won’t tighten enough so I switched it back to the original and just tightened the upper tension to balance the stitch more. The bobbin case won’t tighten more and I need it to. I bought one from amazon, a hook and case, and while it looks the same, I just used the bobbin case. I wasn’t messing with the hook! Lol I can’t remember if this problem started with that switch.... But your direction to the case and the thread catching made me think of the switch and so switching back has seemed to help that issue. I just need to perfect the tension. Thank you for taking the time to respond and pointing me in the direction.

    @@AlexanderDyer according to the most of the sewing people, the case you named ''bobbin case'' is ''basket'' and the cap that set the lower thread tension (and to hold bobbin in its place at horizontal axis hook machines) is ''bobbin case''. (example: pfaff 1245 and all horizontal axis hook machines). after your response, I ve checked the Cerliani (one of the biggest hook manufacturer) catalog for terminology, and I saw that they have same vocab with you. thing that I call basket is, ''bobbin case''. and the thing that I call bobbin case is ''bobbin cap''.

    It takes the right tools. The wrong tool can do more damage than good.
