I work in a factory that makes tactical gear for the military and the men in blue and we use machines such as this. I personally sew on a Juki dnu 1541S and it goes through stuff..but sometimes i wonder if it is too much on some of the stuff I sew but still it is an awesome and tough machine. in the future I want to make purses, back packs, and the like and I will get a Juki 1541 I hope they will be available. right now I don't have the money or the place to put one. just a goal in the future.

I have the sailrite Big N Tall, do you have a video showing how to check and if need be, adjust the walking feet so they walk at the same height. I believe mine are off and I would like to adjust them for proper function. I was able to adjust them regarding the height of material they need to walk on, but they are not walking at the same height. Thanks and I really enjoy all your videos. Well Done !

On the juki 562/563. If you look on the back where the lifter front lever is connected to the lifter back lever that are connected with a hole and tab and one moves the other to lift the feet. Question is, when the machine is operating are those two levers supposed to be moving mechanically up and down? Its a friction joint.

This Machine was basically copied from Singer 112W. From WW1. Even the inside is so identical. Juki was making just updates on top. However, Thanks for the Video.

Hey Alexander, Wondering what the most appropriate way of setting the bobbin tension in a top load machine like this Juki 562? I have a LU1508 and the documentation is pretty average with directions for the correct adjustment. I've watched you other video for a side feed, but wondering g how that translates to a top feed?

  • @AlexanderDyer

The principle is always the same. I have even thought so of 5 thread overlocks. It is a matter of trial and error so you want to do some test runs on scraps until you get it right. Sew a little make an adjustment, sew a little more and just keep dialing it in till you get the results you want. Master your machine and make it do what you want, it is yours. Oh and the 2 tensioners, I just try to keep them the same as one another so if I am tightening, I tighten both. This is just a way to apply the higher tensions this machine sometimes needs without pinching on the thread in one spot so much that it causes damage. I hope that makes sense.

Hey Alexander, how would you rate this machine as a automotive upholstry sewing machine? I know there is no 'one machine' for all applications, but would this model cover most of the automotive upholstry work? Thanks for the great videos to by the way, very descriptive and well explained. Keep up the great work.

First a disclaimer, I have never done upholstery. I believe a lot of upholstery has be done on these Juki's. The compound feed is a great feed system and has been the standard for some time. If you have an opportunity to get one of these or the LU-563 with bigger hook and bobbin, I would say go for it. If it didn't work for you, and I think it will, you can sell it and get your money back. These things hold their value very well.

Alexander Dyer, Great! I'm actually looking at the 563. They don't come up very often in my area. The local sewing shop is suggesting I go with the other style of feed, where the other foot draws the fabric through. That suggestion doesn't make logical sense to me. Appreciate your suggestion and your disclaimer noted.

562 and 563 are the same except that the 563 have a large bobbin. This machine would be ideal for the projects you have indicated. Again, condition is the deciding factor.

I think the 55 is an earlier version of the 562/563 series but I don't have any experience with it. Its hard to beat free, use that thing and see what it will do, I'll bet you can make some cool stuff that you can use.

It doesn't look like your reverse is synched with forward; if I'm seeing what I *think* I see, it punched a different set of holes.

  • @AlexanderDyer

Yes. This can be adjusted. I bought this from an awning shop who preferred small back tacks. This is what they determined looked best from sidewalk level in awning material. Each machine should be set up for the application of the user. If a person is sewing leather wallets for example then they would want to synchronize it as you say.
