    I didn't use my machine for a long time and used a vintage Singer machine that needle threads in the opposite direction. Came back to my industrial and couldn't get it to sew...until now that I see I threaded it backwards. Duh!! Anyhow, my machine is not broken and I am happy. Thanks for this video!!

    I appreciate you doing this video. It's helpful to see this. I'm having issues with my thread getting caught under the spool, so I added a plastic thread cover to help feed the thread.

    I don't have a Juki machine, but I do have a very similar one, and it was giving me no end of trouble. Your video helped me fix my machine problem, and saved me a lot of money. I was literally in the process of ordering a new machine when your video came up on my Roku. Thank you. Many times, thank you!! By the way, my problem was with the little wire hook. It was such a small detail, and such a huge impact. Thank you again!!!

    Thank you for your video, I'm new to my industrial walking feet machine and I've had a few issues. I'm particularly struggling with thread tensions top and bottom and find that the machine will sometimes `shread' the top thread till it breaks. The thread I'm using is extremely strong bonded thread and you've given me plenty of ideas on where to start trying to sort my issues out. Thank you

    Hi! Thanks for your videos! They are really helpful. I am having tension issues with my Juki 1541s. I'm sewing on Naugahyde vinyl, backed by 1/4" scrim foam with a fabric backing and with a Bonded Nylon V92 thread and size 20 needle and no matter how much I adjust the tension knob or the bobbin case, I cannot get the tension correct. There continue to be some small loops on the bobbin thread, back of fabric. I have also had loops on the top of the fabric and bottom at the same time. With some adjusting, I can get the top tension to produce a straight stitch with no loops, but not the bottom. Do you have any suggestions about how I can fix this? Thank you.

    I just did the backwards needle threading thing just before Christmas. I don't let things beat me. I must win. I sat and looked at it and I knew it had something to do with the bobbin or the needle. Took the bobbin out and it was fine. Finally threaded the needle like a book, left to right. Worked like a dream. The needle divit thing I did not know. Guess I have been lucky changing needles so far. That's a hoot because things don't work like that for me. Any way I appreciate your video. very helpful. Could you please fill a bobbin? I am not always sure I am doing that one correctly. Thanks. Happy New Year to you.

    Thanks for the tips! I have the 8700 and am having problems with when I finish sewing, and pull the fabric out, the bobbin thread is doubled. I have the bobbin in clockwise and the stitching looks good. It's just annoying to have to jiggle the bobbin thread to get it loose.

  • @Sewinggold

    @Sewinggold

    Make sure the take up lever is all the way up when you are pulling the fabric out. That will allow the thread to pass the hook and avoid the 2 threads coming up through the bobbin area.

    Hi steve I have a little question. I have a Gemsy straight stitch G8900B exactly like a juki DDL 8700 in appearance but my bobbin is slightly bigger. I am trying to sew scraps of lycra, stretch knits and light fabrics but it seems to skip stitches and really does a terrible job in just trying to do a stay stitch. I played with the tension, cleaned the machine, and i dont know what else to try. I also changed the needle to a new one but i still get the same problem. I am not sure if i will need a different kind of needle, i was trying to look for a video on your page but couldn’t find something. Thanks you so much for any help I would appreciate it.

  • @Sewinggold

    I would try a ball point needle for starters. Unfortunately Lycra and other stretch materials are the hardest to sew. Sometimes we have to time a new machine to work specifically on stretch.

I've been sewing leather for over 10 years now and I've never had a problem like this and I've tried every remedy I can possibly think of LOL. Have you ever heard of this?

    I just bought a used 1541S. It's ten years old, but looks brand new. The only thing is the previous owner installed a tension plate from a 1508 on it. I'm not sure why, but I want to return it to its original configuration, but I'm missing the thread guide that goes on top of the tension plate. Do you know where I can source one of these? Also, I would like to get an original drain pan.

    Steve, can you comment on this: if I don’t give the machine enough “gas”, just tenderly press down, and when the material is thick/resistance to needle is high, the belt just spins by itself and making the friction noise, very troubling but I don’t think it’s wrong. How do you suggest I handle this? (If I gas it, I’m afraid I’ll lose control and it’d stitch too fast)

  • @Sewinggold

    @Sewinggold

    3 жыл бұрын

    If the belt spins, that would tell me you belt is too loose. If the material is really dense, you will need a bit more speed/power to get through.

    I’ve never used a industrial machine before. Do these machines take regular sewing needles? And what about thread? Is it thicker than a standard quilting thread?

    Most industrial machines takes specific needles. They do not use a standard 15x1 household needle. This particular machine uses 135x16 and 135x17 class needles. The DNU-1541 series is sewn off with T70 thread which is thicker then quilting thread.

    What is the difference between the 1541 and the 1541S also are these machines ok sewing holsters?

  • @Sewinggold

    @Sewinggold

    4 жыл бұрын

    The DNU-1541S has a saftey clutch. Thay can both sew holsters but only up to a point. It will depend how thick and dense the leather is. Also, the maximum size thread by the specifications is 138, but we have used 207.

    Keep in mind on a double needle machine the left needle indent goes left and the right needle indent goes to the right. Just FYI.

    Is this for just this brand of sewing machine for the needle...because on all the machines I’ve had the grove faces toward the sewer and the thread goes in from the front towards the back.

    I've used MANY industrial machines and they are all this way. Your home machines are a bit different and the eye of the needle is facing you. But I do believe with those, the scarf of the needle (the notch) is supposed to be facing away from you.

    For most machines that the bobbin case loads from the side, the needle faces left to right. That is on home and industrial machines. A lot of home machines have the bobbin case in front, so the needle would be front to back.

    What causes the thread to twist down by the needle and eventually break?

    Could be numerous things. Old thread or a needle too small for the thread size being used.
