    The standard Scorpion is a lot of fun to ride. Looks cool, the full suspension provides for smooth travels. Big bright lights a comfortable seat and lots of hill climbing power.

    I have this Scorpion in blue and it’s awesome. The 750W motor makes it ebike legal according to federal law. Anything above 750W cannot be considered an electric bicycle by law and therefore cannot use bike lanes, has to be registered with the DMV, etc. With 750 W motor you’re completely free, plus the speed is plenty enough in my opinion. Also, I pedal this thing all the time and have done so for like 5-6 hours straight on a few occasions and I have no trouble with seat height. I’m a 5’10” male. Just make sure you keep a straight back and don’t hunch over the handlebar.

    Looking good on that bike Micah! It fits you try reviewing that hyper here it pretty fast. Would like to see that. Thinking about getting one but...man pricey for 65inches of aluminum. And I a great the weight stymies the 750watt mother. Upgrading my RadMini with Bolton Bikes upgrade kit and Electricbikeworlds Bafang “real” 750watt motor. Got motor waiting on controller and monitor.. with 20” wheels this will give me the torque I need (hills). May convert to 52v battery down the road (maybe) for speed. But thinking Hyper Scorpion hmmm...

    2 yr old video but, hey! Juiced bikes Rock! I opted for the $849 G-Force T42 copy of the Lectric XP 3.0, which has : 750/1100 motor, 20A controller, bigger: battery, tires, forks and top speed. Also 4 pounds heavier... My plan is to add a 20ah battery on the rack and a mid drive Bafang when the hub motor dies...

    It seems to me with such a well thought out setup as a moped it should definitely have a significantly higher top speed (and hence what you said , more power). I think at that price point and top speed I would purchase more in the e-bike category and be willing to live with a less beefy frame and suspension.

    I suspect they're keeping it where it is for legal reasons so that it's classified as an ebike and not a moped. Mopeds can't ride trails, sidewalks, etc - so keeping it an ebike offers a lot of flexibility but not speed. It'll have to adhere to the 3 federal ebike classes (US statement, no idea about other nations) - but I suspect it has a mode for off-road or private property where it doesn't have to comply.

    I read somewhere that Juiced took over the design of the Onyx CTY when Onyx decided to focus on the RCR. I gotta say, the CTY looked so much better. They nailed the 'vintage moped meets modern electric' design with very clean lines, whereas the Scorpion with added rack, high bars, balloon tires looks a bit dorky. I hope Onyx brings it back at some point...

  • @ebikefansfo

    @ebikefansfo

    mennoosmusic Juiced did not take over the CTY. ONYX plans to rerelease the CTY. The Scorpion is an offshoot of the Bird Cruiser rental bike it was contracted to produce for Bird which also owns and released the Cruiser under Scoot branding. ONYX founder and designer left ONYX to lead design efforts at Bird a year ago and he had a hand in the Cruiser which the Scorpion borrows a lot from.

    Thanks for terrific vid. I agree with you. Looks like it's faster but probably a cruiser. But for $1899 from China? I'd say $1500 would be fair. It's not a mid-drive motor but instead a rear wheel single speed. What about replacement parts? Don't get me wrong, I like the Scorpion a lot and the owner is cool but it sure is pricey and at some point difficult to maintain. Battery might cost anywhere from $350 and up and would be a direct part purchase from Juiced until someone can copy the battery harness. But sizing the ebike is kind of difficult to gauge. Can you give your opinion about different heights and comfort to pedal? Thanks.

    It's cool, but I used to have a Puch gas moped back in the 80's. I think I might be disappointed with the power and speed on this. I wish Juiced had a step through version of the Crosscurrent S similar to the Radcity but with the Class 3, slightly beefier tires and better components. That would be definitely worth the extra few hundred dollars.

    I've gotten to try the standard seat and felt like I was on a toddler bike. Bearable on throttle only, but knees pointing at the sky pedaling. I didn't get to try the taller seat, it'd be better I'm sure. I'd really like to see more of the pedal use shown. Even though many will ride it throttle only, I'm still interested in pedaling - knowing it won't be optimal, but want to better understand how not optimal (tolerable or miserable). Great looking bike.

    I've always wanted one but i never understood how i would use it. They're too slow to be allowed on highways and too fast to be allowed on bike paths, so how to you get around on one? You're pretty much confined to local streets.

  • @corennet.6776

    Exactly. I'm too poor to buy a car and thought something like this would be the solution. Turns out, KY doesn't agree. lol there are higher speed ones you can bring on the highways, but the catch is that if its that fast, its a motorcycle and needs a license + insurance, defeating the purpose.

  • @caramelzappa

    @caramelzappa

    3 жыл бұрын

    They're really not too fast for bike paths, especially since you obviously don't have to go full speed. On a bike like this the throttle is only 20mph, which a much lighter pedal bike can hit anyways, and even if you pedal really hard they max out at 28mph. I ride my juiced scrambler on local bike paths all the time with 0 problems. Just slow down and be courteous when there are others you're sharing the trail with.

    Agree. If we want e bike riding to flourish it can't get close to that merging with autos , that is exactly what happened in the first generation of ebikes and public opinion and legislation pushed bikes out, driving down both sales and manufacturing and design in the process. No need to get motorbike envy with an ebike anyways.

    I like it and I would think of certifying it for the European community. It is THE street style mobilette(!) that could be appreciated by young boys and girls. It luckilly has a 750W motor so that it needs no specifications on European roads. The only thing is that the speed must be limited at 25 K an hour to remain a legal bicycle.but that will enhance its range. Can't they show it in some Television commercials with Coca Cola or so, something big? Could be a hype,serious.

    Part of the problem (Thu's your only complaint) is you're wriding this thing like a motorcycle, when it's not. A 750 was designed to pedal assist a lot of the time not just sit there and turn the throttle like you're on a Harley.

    The components on this bike justify the price and I don't think anyone is buying the regular scorpion for the top speed or performance. This one is mainly for your wife, food delivery, and when your making a beer run. The hyperscorpion is the one to get if you really want to blur the line between ebike and moped.

    Hey Micah, with how many ebikes you've ridden it seems like you're in a unique position to compare different models. Along those lines, I'd love to hear a minute of commentary towards the end of these reviews about how each bike stacks up against others in its "class". With the Scorpion, for example, the RadRunner and S73 jump out as obvious competitors that people watching this video might be considering. Would be great to hear your thoughts since you've ridden all those!
