I'm watching this in 2024 for the umpteenth time, and Fred and Judy are still brilliant as ever. ❤

There is absolutely nothing else like this in the history of musical film. It's just brilliant, a joy to watch over and over and over. How I miss both of them.

Judy came up with their costumes for the number. Fred knew this wasn’t a tuxedo dance number that he did with Ginger. Rita. Etc. Judy went to his trailer in costume and said “Fred, is this too much?” The rest is movie musical history

Eyes are on Judy here. Fred is wonderful too, but Judy knocks this out of the park. So cute! Miss you both!

Irving Berlin wrote this song besides hundreds of others. It's one of the best & even better with the great singer Judy Garland, who's facial expressions are so charming & my favourite dancer Fred Astaire. I love singing along to this with them on my playlist.

Impeccable performance from two true greats.

I couldn't take my eyes off of Judy during this entire number. She dominated every movement.

I get the impression that Fred Astaire kind of laid low and allowed Judy to shine as much as possible. I could be wrong, but I just think that's how he was, he'd had just returned from "retirement" to do this picture, and Judy was still "a kid". I think he was a very magnanimous guy.

Brilliant, Charming, Entertaining, Excellent Fun, Precise Song and Dance Number. Judy Garland is the one who really stands out in this number! Judy Garland is very charming, expressive and funny!

Simple. Melodic. Irresistible. Entertaining as hell. One of those numbers that never seems to get boring. Will continue to be joyful for another 100 years. Judy matches and out-dances Fred...whoever thought? Love this.

They exist on Broadway, but most movie prodcers won't invest in musicals now.

@@BarbaraJaneP I think things will change, people are becoming bored with films that are all artificial intelligence and want reality and though actors went on strike over AI it's been around a long time and they never complained when it made them look good in films. The only good actors are the ones that also have the guts to perform live theatre.

At 26 Judy at her zenith in her movie career. My favorite Judy scene from all her musicals. She was THE entertainer of the 20th century. I never once saw Fred during this number.

I still watch this about once a week , a timeless classic !

the ultimate talent , at a level ...too high for the actual dancer etc ! noone can do this again ! and im always blown away , " how a lady like that can dance like that ???? " !

Fred and Judy got along great! Cute number!

Gosh! What great entertainment. Makes you feel good while watching it, patting my feet and moving my hands with the music. Pure clean wholesome escapism.

Just fabulous, and terrific picture quality too so it can be fully enjoyed. It looks like it was made yesterday and I very much doubt that anything made today could possibly compare.

A Cinematic Musical Great !!!

First time seeing this clip. Judy seems to be effortlessly, almost improvising this with a feeling of freedom. More than a touch of vaudeville style, just transcendent face and eyes. Incredible.

I agree; I feel that not often enough does she get the chance to ‘do her own thing’ and Fred-he’s enjoying himself immensely as are we.

I was drawn to Judy the moment she appeared and was never distracted by Fred the entire performance. I get the feeling that he was either playing down or was intimidated due to his enormous respect for Judy's abilities. He was quoted as saying she was the most talented performer that existed or will ever exist.

Fred was always the gentleman and allowed his female partners to shine. You can see how much flash Judy's costume and makeup had compared to his toned down version. He was also attentive to every detail in the planning of a dance routine, especially the beginning and the exit, so the audience found every moment entertaining.

Theyu are both great, but this is maybe the only time I ever saw Fred Astaire upstaged by his dance partner. Your're eyes are simply focused on Judy. And I say this as someone who was never a big fan of Judy Garland

Judy was so much looser and funnier than Fred. She was having way too much fun. You can see it in her eyes.

With all due respect to Fred, but, Fred entered Judy's world on this number and she killed him. Fred is to reserved in this number, he never really looked comfortable. Judy stoled this number the second she walked on the stage, just look at her face. She looked as though she was having a ball, and Fred just looked out of place. Judy could do it all, Fred not quite.
