This week’s Judicial Word of the Week is: Transfer-on-Death Deed
Transfer-on-Death Deed: Also called a “Beneficiary Deed”. A deed used to transfer who owns a property once the current owner(s) pass away. This document is recorded with the Recorder’s Office in the county where the property in question is located.
“The man thought he had to file his transfer-on-death deed with the court, but was surprised to learn that, instead, he needed to record it with the Recorder’s Office.”
