JSAUX Vents Full Review, Best Mod for Cooling Your ROG ALLY?

In this video, we're exploring JSAUX's newest back cover mod for the ROG ALLY, known as The Vents Version. You'll see the unboxing process, installation, and a comparison with other covers, including JSAUX's earlier RGB model. We'll also put it against its main competitor, the HandheldDIY mod case, which also claims to reduce temperatures and keep hardware cooler. Naturally, we'll also add the standard ROG ALLY back cover to get a comprehensive overview.
I personally purchased all these covers, and my opinion is based on actual results and my own experience.
Thanks for watching!

EDIT: Someone told me that in the Vents version cover, there are four tapes that you can use to attach the heatsink to the ALLY fans to ensure it doesn't wobble. I didn't know the purpose of them while doing the installation. Still, Mine doesn't wooble, but you can use those tapes it comes with for a better connection. THANKS to "AppropriateBend8671" from Reddit for this tip. Please note that I personally purchased all these covers out of my own pocket, and my opinion is based on actual results and my own experience. I also did benchmarks with the default Memory timings & no tweaks applied from previous videos, BIOS version used 336 you can buy the JSAUX Vents Version here, LINK: jsaux.com/products/rgb-transparent-back-plate-for-rog-ally?variant=44768296861916 Also if you have the RGB Version already, you can get the heatsink separately that can be installed equally the same on your back cover, LINK: jsaux.com/products/rgb-transparent-back-plate-for-rog-ally?variant=44768296894684 You can get the HandheldDIY cover here, LINK: www.handhelddiy.com/products/transparent-back-cover-for-rog-ally New guide on how to setup up to 50w on the ALLY: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oYSTrsyTnZmbpsY.html ROG ALLY playlist: kzread.info/head/PLg8ANjUNzqfPWpS6QgZTK62-QXOhr0XhF If you enjoy my content Subscribe & Become a member to activate extra PERKS Pateron Page: www.patreon.com/TECHOSAUR Join the TECHOSAUR Community on Discord here : discord.gg/PXmJY6BP8b. you can seek technical assistance, exchange ideas and experiences, relax, share memes, make video request and most importanly feel at home

I appreciate the time you put into this. I know the time that went into benchmarking all those and am thankful.

Thanks, yes, it is time-consuming! But it's worth it when others see which is the best for them. I have no sponsoring with any of those third-party black covers

Have you considered testing the jsaux heat sink with the handheld diy back plate ?

I just tried it, and it's not possible to put that heatsink on the HandheldDIY because it has some plastics that get in the way, so it doesn't even close. The JSAUX has a lot of empty space in the middle I made a short clip if you would like to see it. drive.google.com/file/d/1-X9i6qQtENhH_UGzpo1CZLGv5E8REQog/view?usp=drivesdk

You are the only one who said Jsaux Vent is colder than handhelddiy (as far i watched YT) How come only a backplate without sitting on active cooling can make such impact? Almost 20°

I'm not a thermal engineer, but passive cooling can do a lot. Just like with SSD drives, when you install a high-quality heatsink on it, it reduces temperatures by half. This heatsink manages to cover all the heat generated that conveniently gets carried away by the ALLY two active fans. Just by having a dense heatsink that covers the spot that generates heat to hold as much and then direct it away to the fans, it works well. I'm not an expert in this field, but I'm showing you the results I got, and in my humble opinion, this heatsink is the best way to cool the ALLY while looking nice and not having a protruding heatsink out of the back cover.

Is there a thermal compound or pads between the big heat sink and the allys? I feel like that that could make a difference to cooling if that hasnt been done

Yes, the heatsink of the jsaux Vents has a thermal pad, and it's shaped to make contact with the heatsink and retainer

I feel it’s stupid and dangerous to spread the huge amount of heat from the main heat pipe to the ssd. Even when cooling together you can’t warranty it’ll be cooler than leave it alone. Why make it also suffer the constant high heat while it normally can be cool

My SSD normally runs too hot. Without any cooling, it can reach over 80°C. It depends on the model and maximum speeds.
