I surf this board in San Diego and this is an excellent daily driver for Blacks. Feels like the JS Monsta Box (another great board) but a little bit more performance, but they are close for sure. Board doesn't work when it's too flat and gutless in SD, but if it's 2-3ft+ SD size wave then it will go. Rocker and foil is perfect on this board. Ton of foam under the chest so easy paddler. I'm an intermediate 5'8" 145-150lbs and ride a 5'8" 25.4L Air 17X. This has been my favorite board since I got it. I also had the original Air 17 but I don't think that works as much for SD waves. Really like the Video. I would love for you to compare and contrast the Air 17, MonstaBox and BlakBox II in the one review. It would help an average surfer like me to make an informed decision between the models when considering a new JS surfboard purchase. Cheers.

Roger Pye hey! I haven’t ridden a BB2, but I can talk about the Monsta Box and the Air17x as I have ridden both and they were both pretty epic boards! They are both designed for similar conditions, and cause of that it is pretty hard to pull the two apart. Personally I think I preferred the Air 17x as it seemed to have a little more nose lift, and was a bit narrower through the nose. Also the waves I got to surf it in were generally ok. The Monsta Box seems flatter and wider through the front, probably a bit better when waves are pretty average and flat faced. Hope that helps! 👍

Thanks for the review, sould you say the Air 17 has a more 'continuous rocker', more of a continous 'topsy-turvy' fulcrum 'boost feel',… if can get my drift, than the Air17X?

Hey! I don't really do vs, but if i had to pick one - probably the Air 17 - but would order it with shorter/wider/thicker dimensions!

What is the model of the channel islands to the right side of you in the review. It has the O'neill sticker on it. Is it the Black & White?

I haven't ridden the WCT, but i believe it is identical to the KS FCS fin. The 17x wasn't too temperamental, and i think it would work well with whatever your preferred fin is!

What kind of clear coat do you use on spray jobs? I used a semigloss before and it made my board look dusty and gritty but yours doesn't have that look!

This is just spray paint - no clear gloss over it.

Daequan Loco hey! I’ve never ridden the BB3 in Hyfi, but this here is very comparable to the Monsta box! This has a little more nose lift, and feels a bit narrower through the tip and tail! 🤙
