Thanks Tyler, an interesting wee amp. My very first amp was a 30watt valve, driving an 18" speaker, it was loud in it's day lol This looks to be a great amp for practice at home and hey it has an effects loop, what more do you want !

Definitely something a little different and pretty versatile - up to the owners’ imagination how it really gets used! T

Just ordered that one . I started bass last year and bought a hx stomp because I didn't know what type of amp I would love . Love the stomp but I need a real preamp . Guess that'll do the job . I always play with headphones.

How does it work with drive, disturtion, fuzz pedals at front? So bad that the front signal doesn't work along with the active EQ from the amp in the FX loop as that might open more possibilities to run modulation pedals there.

The EQ on your recording seems a great deal less dramatic than what I was able to record. I wonder if that's just the difference between recording direct vs a cab. EDIT: Joyo themselves told me that they modelled this amp on Ampeg, but I just don't get that character out of it at all.

  • @TylerSpicer

Definitely a case of the cab vs direct. The cab will always balance out some of that EQ with its own EQ curve. I agree - i wouldn’t say Ampeg at all, it really does sound closer to a terror bass to me, having owned one! It doesn’t have the midrange that you get from an Ampeg…

I’m about to buy my first bass and am limited for space. Initially I will purely be playing at home without the need to gig or rehearse with others while I learn the basics. I was going to purchase a fender rumble 40 but tempted by this joyo instead given how portable this is. Any advice on whether this is sufficient for purely beginner practice?

I am gonna put tube pre and then bass limiter before the input to somehow boost the headroom of it and give you the answer if it works for bigger volume. Works on classic amps, but I wonder if the 12V isnt too low for this.

So the best way for more clean headroom is to find less grainy 12ax7, like Sovtek WA, WC or WB. Havent tried JJ tube yet, but I bet it will break up later than stock chinese Pswane ecc83 preamp tube

Hey man. Can you do a video on the different amp head types. Like what class d means and what it means when a head has a tube pre amp ect. Thanks for all the great videos and information. I've been putting my rig together using your information, almost exclusively. There's just a few things I still don't know. I feel like an idiot asking the guys at the music stores. I always get funny looks. Thanks again. God bless

@@TylerSpicer Awesome thank you. I started playing again about 6 months ago. Last time I played I was 18 and in a band. But I never really learned anything about my equipment. My dad bought me a Hartke stack when I was 16 and that's all I used. So I just plugged in and played. So I'm not sure what most things are such as a pre amp or if I really even need one. All I know is Solid state and tube. Other than that I know nothing. And I've been staying away from tube completely. So when I see a head I'm interested in and see it says that there's a tube pre amp, I stay away. But I don't know if that's a justified thought. It's just something I picked up because I didn't want to change tube or have my tone slightly different every time I powered up. Thanks again. God bless

im late to this party but i'd like to know if this amp is loud enough to rehearse with at its full 50w 4ohm configuration? i know this amp is not built for gigging but it should be enough for rehearsals, right?

  • @TylerSpicer

Hey! Thank you for watching! It really depends on what the band is! And also what can you’re using it with… A highly efficient cab it’ll be good for and acoustic rock type band probably? I wouldn’t expect it to hang with 15w valve/then guitar amps. T

Quick question. If I have a 100 watt head that I absolutely love the sound of and want to use, but need more power, is it possible to connect it too another head, with let's say 800 watts, and use the 800 watt power but get the sound and tone that I love from the 100 watt head? Thanks again. God bless

  • @TylerSpicer

    @TylerSpicer

    2 жыл бұрын

Hey Jim! If your 100w head has an effects loop, you could run it out of the send on effects loop into the return on the theoretical 800w head (providing this had an effects loop too!). You could simply pair it with a power amp of some sort which would also be perfect for this situation and needn’t be bass specific. T

Give the Quilter Interbass 45 a try. No aux input but that's a bit of a gimmick anyway, esp. Bluetooth. DI is switch attenuated for headphones controlled w/master volume.

@@ampthebassplayer I don't know if it sends an instrument or line output. In the first case you could get a low signal to your interface I guess.
