Lyrics:
To the centre of the city where all roads meet, waiting for you,
To the depths of the ocean where all hopes sank, searching for you,
I was moving through the silence without motion, waiting for you,
In a room with a window in the corner I found truth.
In the shadowplay, acting out your own death, knowing no more,
As the assassins all grouped in four lines, dancing on the floor,
And with cold steel, odour on their bodies made a move to connect,
But I could only stare in disbelief as the crowds all left.
I did everything, everything I wanted to,
I let them use you for their own ends,
To the centre of the city in the night, waiting for you,
To the centre of the city in the night, waiting for you.

If you're watching this. PLEASE PLEASE focus on more industrial stuff like abandoned factories, grime, brutalist architecture, that type of stuff. Give us a look into what Manchester looked like in the late 70s. A look into the working class life where people struggle to survive and feed their families. This video is better than Day of the Lords, you're getting there. Stuff like Vonnegut's novels and songs like Frankie Teardrop by Suicide are what I think about when I listen to Joy Division.

It should be obvious to them. Anyone who knows joy division who didn’t find out about them through a t shirt should know that that’s what joy division is. I agree, the whole late 70s Manchester setting and Frankie teardrop comparison I agree with , but honestly , whoever is making these videos probably does not give a shit and is trying to make their music more palatable to a younger generation

Walking home from a party I had left in pain and anger because my girlfriend had completely ignored me to intensely flirt with another guy. Went home to our apartment, upstairs to our bedroom, which had a window in the corner. Sat on our bed with the lights off. To depths of the ocean where all hopes sank, searching for her, moving through the silence without motion, waiting for her. In the room with a window in the corner I found truth. And was reborn, in a way. Thank you Ian and the lads for comforting the misery of that night.

The all darkness, mystery and conspiratorial "massive heading to somewhere" in the beginning, the camera's close-ups to the hasty and eager hands and feet, the frenzied dionysiac dancing of the people with the camera closing-up and micro-pausing on their ecstatic faces... I mean the video seems a little bit amateurish but I guess that was the idea...And its director seems to be big time director...

I discovered them when I was a teenager in the late 90s.I love that they have a twirling dervish at the end To make a long story short I learned about(Turkish)dervishes when my best friend got me a tarot card set for my birthday when I was a teenager . They spin to get closer to God, kind of like meditation. Years later my husband occasionally gives me an odd look when he catches me spinning every few years... 🍻❤ Happy Thanksgiving

From the first LP. The instant talent of all four members, after having basically just picked up their instruments and playing, shortly after seeing Sex Pistols live. Bernards guitar is unbelievable!
