I listened to this song for months while my relationship was crumbling apart. I remember drunkenly singing this at a karaoke night and stared dead into my abusive partners eyes he felt it. It was like I said my piece for the first time and he felt my anger and hurt. I did one of the scariest things I’ve ever done and left. I never cheated or felt the urge to this song just hit me differently it made me crave for a new life independence I wanted to stop pretending I was ok. I no longer wanted to spend my time with a person who was draining my energy because they weren’t capable of taking care of their mental health. Know that you are not a person’s therapist you are not their punching bag you were not put on this earth to fix people always love yourself first. This song will alway hold a part of my growth.

I congratulate you for what you did. I think some people, we just try to give love chances and hope that our love can heal people. Until we realize sooner or later that we are falling appart in our efforts and compromises and investment.... but it is never to late to give yourself a chance, a chance for change and for true happiness. And yes, it starts with independence untill you are strong enough to be able to love again.... ♡♡♡

Wow. Thank you so much for this comment. U described exactly where I am currently- I am in an extremely abusive relationship- and it’s painful because though I love him- he mistreats me and takes all his anger out on me for his misfortunes. I need to regain myself and my life back. Please pray for my escape. I feel he won’t ever appreciate everything I am until I am no longer around him. My freedom will be my joy.. and it will comfort my spirit that I can finally fly free.

Been with my husband 21 years (exactly half of my life) and I’m currently in the process of leaving after enduring years of mental, verbal, emotional, and sometimes physical abuse. This song spoke to me. I can also relate to the reason she has a child in the video. My children were my reason for staying, even for living. But then I realized they have to be my reason for not staying and that -if I’m honest- I wasn’t living anyways; I was just existing. Life is short. I’m not saying give up easy, but know when you’re fighting a losing battle and love yourself enough to know when it’s time to go- even in the midst of fear (just be careful and safe). Very beautiful song and voice.

I can't believe I just found out about her! In the few vids I've watched, I'm literally captivated by her quiet, emotive strength and her soulful voice and eyes. The few seconds right before she started singing in this one, the awkward and uncomfortable mannerisms are so realistic and human. Really captures having a convo with someone who you don't want to be with anymore and how heartbreaking but necessary it is. Masterpiece.

oh my God her voice I can relate to this so much. I had to leave my boyfriend cause he was being very psychologically abusive and he wasn't stopping his drinking. I had such strong feelings for him but he didn't have the same for me. I had to go and I really do miss him but I deserve better. I really do feel like the only way I was able to truly be free was to leave. it became a mental prison living with him. hopefully he can find happiness too one day. I'm sorry Jordan. please take care of yourself I needed this thank you. 💙

This song makes me think of the relationship with my child's father, I pray he heals from what's hurting him. I'm working my way through my own healing right now and I feel it ended up costing a soulmate I had to cut off. I don't want to repeat a cycle or bring that lifestyle into my daughter's life and that's why I have to work on myself one day at a time. Sometimes that looks like walking away even when you care so much or want to pick up the broken pieces sometimes you have to cut it off all together. 🙏 Beautiful song, beautiful music video and your voice is angelic! 🎶💗

To my past soulmate, I lied when I told u I no longer had feelings for you. I still remember every little detail with you. From the first day we hung around school as friends and the awkward moments with people assuming we were together to the days where we finally decided to make it official. The hours on hours we’d spend at our spot each day after school, to the walks we’d have at night without words just staring at the stars. I remember the school night we left at 4am just so we’d we able to see the sun rise together at that park near my house. I remember looking at u in your eyes and seeing my whole future with you. I remember every night we’d lose sleep and lie about when we were tired just so the conversation would last longer. I remember the night u took me out on my birthday; it was the night I knew I’d love you forever. The day we made our promises; nothing felt more real than it was on that day. The day I met your family and the day we said forever. But I also remember the day my father denied you. The way my mother told me to let you go. You were of a different culture and a whole different section of belief in my religion. But could I help falling in love? Although u didn’t know that my parents were the reason behind me distancing away from you, u always assumed that I just lost my feelings for you. You tried so hard, you lost ur own self worth. I couldn’t have the heart to tell you. It’s been a while now, I’m not sure if u still think of me the way I do of you; we were only 15. What would we have known about love anyways, right? You don’t even look at me anymore, are you that disgusted of me? I wish you find the love a soul like you deserves. I try to convince myself I’ve moved on with my new partner, but the thought of you still haunts my mind and I wish you’d understand. I’m sorry.
