This could have happened in China, but it happened in Turkey.
More than five hundred nearly-identical castles appear to be copied and pasted onto this Turkish hillside - but not a soul lives there.
What were supposed to become fairy tale homes, with sumptuous rooms boasting high ceilings, ornate plasterwork, parquet flooring, and other fine finishes, have ultimately become nothing more than hundreds of concrete skeletons.
Developers meant for these uniform villas to be luxury vacation homes for wealthy tourists when they began construction in 2014. However, when the company went bankrupt in 2018, investors pulled out of the deal which put construction on hold.
In addition to villas, the project contained swimming pools, Turkish baths, health and beauty salons, a shopping center, and a mosque.
The French chateaux-style castle exteriors are styled with ornate facades, Juliet balconies, and round turrets that adorn them. But inside are half-finished rooms. Some look as though workers dropped their tools mid-job and walked out.
The development cost a cool $200 million to build thus far. But instead of a grandiose, multi-million dollar retreat, "Burj al Babas" has become something out of a dystopian novel.
Let's explore Turkey's eerie abandoned town, where Disney-inspired fairytale mansions sit empty in a sea of construction debris.

Hey to our dearest Explomers! Hope you've been doing well :) I feel so sorry to not have posted any video this Wednesday, but I've been very busy working on the brand new Turkey Series that will be premiering the entire month of December! I can not wait to share all my adventures and journey with you in this beautiful country. It was an unforgettable trip and I got to explore the most fascinating abandoned site I have ever seen throughout 6 years of urban exploration. I'm really excited to take you all on these incredible journeys throughout Turkey, together with my homie @BigBankz. I worked only 20 hours to edit this particular episode and put so much love and effort into it! Make sure to subscribe to Engin's channel as well, he really rocks! You'll find his link in the description. Also, special thanks to Remi from @doremionthetrack (Instagram) for creating the opening title song for the Turkey Mini Series! Enjoy watching another incredible 4 episode-long Series, as a Christmas present to all of you!

Homelessness is everywhere. Not just in the states. It is, however, far more shameful in the U.S. because we are so wealthy and yet have an absolute epidemic of hungry and homeless people. The “haves” don’t feel much obligation to give a hand-up (not a hand-out) to the have-nots.

@@hoosthere yeah giving them food doesn't help them getting a house or a job but it gives them food for another day. In America it's hard to get a job being homeless bc you need a phone number, house number or something usually when you sign up for a job. Also with job interviews its hard to get dressed clena and nicly if you do get that far. Plus it's hard for them to get help if they're homeless for reasons like addition (which I can on and on about how horrible America treats people with addiction) or being disabled in anyway. These are very hard for them to get help because many of the American companies that do help the homeless won't unless they're already recovered and if they relapse they kick them out and refuse to give them further help. Which addiction is hard to over come and more services need to offer addiction help and housing for those with issues like that. For example Salvation army takes in homeless women and if they do anything unapproved they kick them out and steal their items and sell them in their stores. American society is so horrible and not efficient in anyway towards the homeless and people with conservative views often think "why give them my hard earened money when theyll go spend it on ---" which that headset is horrible because it just makes more people feel like it's appropriate to not help them out. My downtown has a lot of homeless people and I've seen only a handful be Able to get jobs in the past 10 years and even with the jobs they can find they don't get paid enough to still not be homeless

If there were less of them it’d appear more unique or exclusive. With so many it’s more like an expensive project or ghetto. Hardly any privacy or land between homes. I don’t see a garage to house their expensive cars. Poorly designed and greed took over.

(I'm a music teacher, and teach classical piano and guitar) - and you have a beautiful voice too! I was expecting the camera to show a beautiful wife and children waiting for you at your lovely home ... but your kitty is very cute too. God meant for you to meet Maureno and Carter and so very kindly help them - it looked like a memorable evening, but your kindness stands out above all - and it was a pleasure to 'meet you'. Stay cool, and sweet and kind. I'm going to try and find your KZread channel! XXXXXXX EDIT: I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL - AND IT'S AWESOME!! I can't wait to see more of your videos, but I subscribed and smashed the Like button before it was even half way through. Thank you, Engin - for sharing your beautiful world with the World!!! XXX

If you showed us one castle, you showed us them all! Its crazy that the moulding and outside of castle is all styrofoam 😳 Painted over to look like high quality carving. I recall you discovered styrofoam at the first housing area, but I don't recall you showing that about the castles. Another channel I watched did and they also videoed the unfinished outside areas where the finishing touches such as trim and the moulding were very uneven with gaps. Its not so easy to hide foam inperfections no matter how much foam filler and paint applied. I'm always amazed at how many vacant homes are in the world and yet we have so much homelessness; people (families) sleeping outside in tents and cardboard shelters; even under overhangs of buildings, and bridges (See San Francisco homeless - the poverty is a testament to the disgrace of leaders!) And yet, it is an interesting phenomenon the amount of single men and women who are homeless, those I've personally talked to who said they are 'happier eventhough it can be hard - but at least I'm free from bureaucratic & corporate rules, and their hands constantly reaching into my pockets'. Moral of their story = _No money and owning nothing removes most of the weight we carry in this life._ So true in many respects.

I know that the USA has a lot of housing projects that sit on the outskirts of cites but these castle like buildings, large and small, are just not appealing at all. You realize that looking out the window of those places you see your neighbor’s years and in their windows?! It looks like they disturbed graves to build that place! The larger field of “castles” have no yards or trees either. The buildings are made of some cheap cement. Turkey has earthquakes. Those buildings do not look like they were built to code for an earthquake zone. That is the kind of cement buildings that many had in Haiti before that major earthquake. (Not the same shape) Those buildings fell and crushed those poor people. Big cement pieces that were not properly supported fell on them! That is what happens when rich developers are allowed to build without regard to the welfare of the people. Why would anyone drive so far out of the range of where they work to live out there? It is just plain ugly, cramped, and it would be crowded if people actually lived there. Just because someone is a “KZreadr” does not mean that they are the same as you. Many corporations film for KZread and make a lot of money. I’m glad that when Trump was president and our oil prices went down (because we were able to drill our own oil) that these rich scammers got run out of business!

In regards to the styrofoam houses, I was curious and did a quick Google search -- _Styrofoam is used in efficient building within the use of Insulated Concrete Forms, or ICF's._ _They have knobs like Lego blocks and are stacked upon each other to build the form and foundation of the walls._ _After they are stacked, concrete is poured into the expanded polystyrene forms._ *The more you know.* 👍🏻

Gosh what to comment! Excellent explore. How anyone could have thought that building this was a good idea is beyond me - the waste of money, materials and land - greed and illusions of grandeur taken to the extreme. It would have been utterly surreal if it had ever got completed. All that concrete in an earthquake prone area? What were they thinking? So much money wasted in a country with considerable poverty - I weep.

Hello, thanks for the upload. I noticed the roofs made of reinforced concrete. This probably helps to keep the unfinished houses in good shape till a solution is found to continue construction. Looking at the houses I wonder why the investors who had certainly quite a big budget at the beginning decided to do all the village with only one same design for all the houses. Definitely they could have afforded to create 3 or 4 variations by just swapping some elements left and right on the computer generated plans. Same costs, same number of rooms.. just not plain copy of the house right beside. Also I wonder where the cars will be parked. Guess outside, exposed to the sun. Maybe there is enough water supply or natural rain fall to allow extensive planting of suitable trees.. ? Should be planted at least a thousand trees there. I think one reason for the failure of this project may be that there is missing a sea side or a large lake. Just to sit in a village like that in the middle of nowhere.. and pay big bucks for such a Disney Home.. doesn't make sense.

Oooh that "flowers in the attic" theme song gave me chills! 😄 but what I find interesting is the first development. If someone has the money to live in a huge house like that, why on earth would they spend top dollar to live next to other houses identical? I think the whole thing realistically was a terrible idea. Idk makes you wonder if the whole thing was a scam to bring work or use of materials. It just seems so odd.
