The place you’re about to see today holds countless stories. It was once the house of real people-persons, named Monique and Francois. Awarded with the title of “nicest neighbors” they had beautiful years in their trusted place that they could call home. This was once a place filled with joy, and if one listens closely, the sounds of the board games they played with their children can still be heard as echoes of the past. Both Monique and Francois had an affection for reading, and every now and then Francois would venture out into the nearby wooded areas to hunt.
Happily in love that the couple was, they had 2 children together: a boy and a girl. On some wonderful timeless memories, we can still see them in the house embracing their first newborn child.
The boys' room is completely in the theme of his love for motorsport, whereas in the hallway, dozens of photos of their daughter color the wall, alongside her growth chart beautifully immortalized with lines.
Although covered in thick dust, the house looks as if they have just left the room. Here, Monique’s old sewing machine sits ready for use in what would be a bright spot by the window.
On X-rays found in the house, we can determine that Monique once suffered from back problems. But declining health due to age wasn't the reason the house was ever abandoned - in fact, the couple was still in their prime when they had to abandon their home forever, without having a choice.
If we have to believe the rumors about the house, the history of this place is painfully devastating. Weeks after our exploration, we learned that the couple deceased in a car accident in the Christmas of 2010, along with their son and daughter.
Today, the Christmas decorations are still bitterly hanging.
As their house was once meticulously maintained, the years of vacancy and neglect have now taken their toll on their precious home.
Let me open a window for you into the past and the life of these two worthy French residents and their children, that had no choice but to leave their beguiling French home left behind, forever.

What a sad and heartfelt story of this French family. It's really sad knowing it was around this time of their passing, I'm assuming around Dec because of the Xmas decorations. What a lovely home, you can imagine the family listening to some music, laughing and enjoying each other's company. Your right, this is a very special home! Stay safe healthy and blessed on your next adventure!!

The house got abandoned in 2010..that is not that long ago, but the house interior was not altered from at least the early 80's. Sad the children did not, or could not reclaim the house.

Very interesting place. Also interesting is the height marks for the kids on the door frame...the last mark is from Feb 2012! I think those pics of the older woman with the baby is the Monique and her grandchild. The young couple holding the baby is the daughter and the same baby. The place looks as if it has already been ransacked in some rooms...mostly looking for valuable jewelry. Many drawers and furniture left open. So..some family must have been left behind. Maybe it was daughter and son-in-law killed? Also...that globe was part of the liquor cart...it flips open and probably glasses inside.

I have noticed it too. It can't actually be Christmas 2010 if the marks at the wall are 2012... also the house looks like it used to belong to old people (like the furnitures).. I think some family members were left behind.

I agree, Julie - 100 percent. I think there's a lot more to this story than we will ever know. The photos of Monique holding her grandchild shows that their son and daughter were all grown up. Which leaves many questions. For example, being elderly and not in good health, certainly they would have had a will in place. L Surely, then, the son's and daughter's bedrooms were preserved just the way they were when they grew up and left home - or when they went away to study? Also, someone has been there after they died - because the refrigerator is missing but the plastic crisper drawers for the fruit & veg from the fridge are upturned on the kitchen dish-drainer next to the sink. Also, Francois and Monique seem to have been hoarders - it looks like they didn't discard ANYTHING! But we've seen quite a few French homes just like this from Explomo now..so maybe it's just the French way? IDK. I'm a minimalist and I have a big clean-out every few years so my home will never end up like this! Thank you for your post.

@Explomo People are commenting that the growth chart on wall says 2012 and they were to old to had kids. The thing is they could of been raising grandkids and if they were raising them they probably would call them mother and father. So the town people, neighbors would call them their children. The car accident could of happened in 2012 since the growth chart shows that date. The calendar with 2010 was connected to the children’s picture so they kept it up. A lot of grandparents raise grandkids.

Oh, that mournful music sets the mood! I think the photos that you're referring to are actually photos of a grandchild. The picture shows a young redhead with a baby and a young man standing beside her; didn't the photo of the children show the daughter as being a redhead? The woman holding the baby looks like she's past childbearing age. If you had opened the globe, you would have found shot glasses used for mixing drinks; a sort of drinks cabinet. I had one but in my 20's, but it wasn't as elaborate as that one. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the house was vandalized at least once because the only jewelry you found happened to be costume jewelry as opposed to silver and gold jewelry which most people own. Just a thought... plus the rooms seemed to have things strewn about, some more than others

This was my favorite too and glad you are preserving it! It is a really beautiful place and a very happy hope truly cherished by those that lived and worked really hard to bring that kind of history together during that time period! Thank you
