Journey to the Lost World of Mount Roraima: Birding and Exploring Nature's Hidden Paradise

Join Diego on one of the world’s top ultimate nature exploration adventures: climbing up and birding in the very Lost World of Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle, the mighty Mount Roraima tepui.
After many years of planning, Diego finally recently went with some his birdwatching friends to fulfill one of his dreams: visiting (and birding!) at the top of one of the tepuis of the Guianan Shield.
They took a couple of weeks expedition to Venezuela and did the trek to the Roraima Tepui where they camped at several stations in the way finding a load of the rare birds that are endemic to the tepuis. As they reached the summit, they not only were birding but also embarked on exhilarating hikes, took refreshing dips in natural jacuzzi pools, and immersed themselves in the diverse and highly specialized ecosystem filled with orchids, carnivorous plants, and endemic frogs. The ancient quartz and sand formations created a mesmerizing tapestry atop these isolated highland dry islands, leaving Diego and his companions in awe.
They of course took advantage of the trip to do some more birding and exploring in the adjacent Sierra de Lema (AKA La Escalera) and the vast flatlands of the Gran Sabana padding their list of endemic birds recorded as they are already offering birding tours back to the tepuis of SE Venezuela starting in 2025.

if you do ALL hiking it is: 12 to 14 km day 1 from Ptaritepui to Rio Tek/Kukenam rivers camp + 8 km to base camp day 2 + 3 km to summit day 3 .... 50km full trip
The place looks amazing. The snakes not so much. 😂
