Journey Through The Universe At The Speed Of Light (4K UHD)

Light is incredibly fast, but frustratingly slow when it comes to travelling the universe. So how long does it take light to travel to Mars or Proxima Centauri? Find out here!

Well yes, but actually no. First of all lightyears isn't a unit of time, rather a distance, but I get what you mean. However with the magic of relativity, it in fact doesnt take 25000 years *for you* at all! Going near the speed of light makes time tick slower for you, only you won't notice it. This means you could travel light years in matter of hours for you. However for anyone tracking you from earth, it would take the full 25000 years. So basically time isn't really the biggest problem if we disregard everybody on earth that is, but reaching near light speed is.

And if they're 1000000000000 light years away from our Galaxy, they would probably see our Solar System being made. It's whether amazing, confusing, shivering and scary. The Universe is just too huge. And the easiest explanation was: the bigger we are, the faster we would travel. The smaller we are, the slower we would travel.

Think about this: If we would invent something to move faster than the speed of light (or just bend time space), we could position a telescope/an object in such a way in space than we could look back at our own history. You could, in theory, observe yourself living your life. You could see your deceased grandparents again, re-live all the fond memories again. But only for that one short moment this deflected sunlight hits your eyes. It's like at the end of Scrubs when JD sees his future, only us watching our past.

I'm not one to think amazing things can't be done one day but, I personally believe that the speed of light is the maximum speed possible. Therefore, anything outside of our solar system is simply things to look at, unless a HUGE spaceship is launched with the intention of people procreating and dying along the journey. (I obviously don't believe in wormholes either.) I will say that these videos really put things into perspective. One would think that taking GREAT care of our planet would be our #1 priority.
