I did some endurance riding when I was younger and really enjoyed the ride. I am 70 now and I think a 4-hour trail ride is just fine enough.

Sounds a bit like Orienteering on Horseback. Cool. I see you visited Smith Rocks too. Maybe not as dramatic as Patagonia, but it's a lovely piece of home for many of us here in Oregon.

Idk which would be harder this or mongol. The mongol you ride I think 50-100 miles per day until each camp so you don't have to carry camping gear. You switch horses at each camp...but some of those tough horses are 1/2 broke lol. This one is fewer horse changes and they're well trained. However, you have to carry all your gear for you and horse and camp out. No marked route either. IMO it's pretty cool that the two races have different challenges to overcome.

hey Warwick, have you heard of the carnivore lifestyle? it is giving ( especially athletes ) many people their optimal performance back even at "old" ages. who knows, it might give you the edge that you can use to complete the race.
