THIS is why haute couture is so expensive. The craftsmanship that goes into every single piece is extraordinary! Bravo!

No Haute Couture is expensive because of the Label , nothing else . No hard work in any atelier in Paris justifies a down for 80 000 euros , especially when the seamstresses are paid about 2500 euros per months have to produce at least 8 gowns . A dress sold for 80 000 euros cost about 15 000 euros top to be produced including wages and material , the rest goes in the designer's pocket , especially if like Saab he owns his own house .
These are not dresses, THESE ARE PIECES OF ART!!!
the only time i will understand why i dress will be thousands of dollars

No Ashshenanigans, the price of those dresses is not understandable. The people sewing sequins on a saree are doing the same job and the saree will cost 750 dollars , but this dress costs 80 000 euros , that's about 85 000 dollars , this is not understandable . If you are ready to pay 85 000 dollars ona dress you will wear 5 times in your life, then you need to question your sanity , no matter how rich you are . Because on those 85 000 dollars , about 3000 dollars cover the fabric and sequins and another 3000 dollars covers the wage of the person involved in that dress . A seamstress in a team of seamstresses for Ellie makes about 2500 euros a month , about 3000 dollars and they have to finish at least 10 haute couture gowns in a month, each selling around 80 000 euros . So there you have it , 85 000 - 5000 - 3000 = 77 000 dollars which you pay for the label and only the label , and the designer if he is also the owner of the house, like Saab , gets the entire amount in his pocket. Multiply it by 50 gowns on a runway twice a year, and there you have it . Of course he will not sell all the gowns but he will sell many. While a person producing a hand woven, hand embroidered Saree in Nepal will make what 300 dollars in a month ? Just because nobody knows his or her name . I don't think there is anything understandable about selling a dress like this for 80 000 euros . And these are not the most expensive gowns, some Haute Couture gowns for Chanel of Dior (circa Galliano) can cost way over 150 000 euros . No hard work in the ateliers justifies this price tag.

Morgan Olfursson it's economics. There are obviously enough people that they can still make these clothes. And I don't think all these dresses are meant to be sold

Morgan Olfursson Brands don't really profit from haute couture. It's more for advertising of other products the brands offer (handbags, shoes, parfumes, makeup, or other ready-to-wear clothes), and for preservation of art. Haute couture is art. Just like some people pay millions for paintings, a few pay thousands for these dresses.
This was magical, I love Elie Saab dresses so much, they are like pieces of art you can wear. I don't think expending so much money in clothes is OK, but one day I will own a Elie Saab dress.

Start saving up . An evening Haute Couture gown by Saab costs 60 000 euros minimum, a Wedding Couture gown cost over 80 000 euros . But you get a discount if you can fit in the gown worn by the model , it is much more expensive though if they have to alter it to fit your measurements.

GraceDcastle yep. Of course, luxurious items are so pricy but sometimes, you understand why they are. They look like pieces of art.
His spring collections are just gorgeous. The amount of detail is wow.
I dream of getting married in Elie Saab... one of the finest couture houses in the world 💕

To me this is art. Some criticise Elie Saab and other Lebanese designers for being repetitious, which may be true, but it doesn't mean it isn't art. There is this notion of what fashion has to be like to count as art, but I will never understand that way of thinking. In other forms of art like painting or sculpting it is completely fine for a particular artist to only explore only one motive, so why it is suddenly a problem in fashion? I am Lebanese and Elies designs touch my heart. I watch his shows and I have tears in my eyes. He is representing Lebanese women, Lebanese culture and the Lebanese way of seeing the world. He is making me feel so many things and I love it.

A lot of people don't understand that Eli Saab and Zuhair Murad produce TIMELESS garments and they know their market really well which is why their designs look stagnant to the eye. They know what their market wants and they give them what they want rather than trying to force them to have a different look every season

True. Last time i remembered in 2010 - 2011, Elie has his own style for Haute Couture. Today... A lot of designers are following him: George, Ziad, Michael Cinco, Zuhair, etc! Repetitive isnt bad. That's because it's Elie. Each designer has its own style.
Industrial bedazzler is awesome.
Models are lucky enough to wear this crafts. :)) Such a hardwork.
My grandma worked with designers doing exactly what is shown on this video. The ones actually making the gowns are the true talent, yet so under appreciated. She's 83 now and laughs every time someone makes a big deal about a dress costing thousands , she said if people only knew what a dress maker goes through and what it takes to complete such a gown. I love watching fashion shows with her and having her explain how it's all put together.
What gorgeous clothes!!! What an amazing designer!!!
I look at this piece of art and all I think is I want to be one of those models wearing down the runways
However works with Ellie Saab is so lucky, wish I could be that person

wow!!! excellent.. I love it
Gorgeous dress 😳🙌
This man is my idol and he's goals!!
King of fashion!
Outstanding!
Wow. Very beautiful.
Incredible!
Worth the price.
I'm glad they didn't make it seem like everything was hand done like other brands. What I mean by that is the sequins for example, there's a machine that can thread them onto the thread and a machine, but other brands pretend it's all one at a time.
those details 😍😍
O my God. So patient because that so many people love so much for yours designs n make us like at wonderland for a while😃😄
Wow stunning dresses!!! I'm glad I found these videos... Know I understand why couture is so Damm bloody expensive
aweeeesooomeeee work u work so hard welldone
elie saab is my favourite of all
Work of art
Beautiful 👗
Yes a wedding dress indeed. Special.🙏🙌✌🌍🌞👐😎
Gorgeous
Elie Saab is an artist, in every dress you can see how Western and Eastern culture meet each other.
amazing machinery! what usto be done in years work for one dress can now be done in weeks work. I finally understand how they can make so many dresses every year
I'm literally speechless....
How interesting to see primarily men working on the intricacies of the initial beading work and construction. When I was designing, it was customary to see a workroom filled with women working on hand beading.
wow. just wow.
master piece
Quality doesn't need to shout. It exhales, and the earth trembles beneath it...
if i were to ever buy one of this dresses i think i would wear it all day every day for a month or so lol, just to see the beaty in every detail and the hard work behind it i would defenetly wear it like for ever 😍👗💎
This isn’t a dress , it’s a piece of art / masterpiece!
Thanks for the insights
Pure art.
perfect!
Would love love to visit 😍
Opulent.... just opulent ... Bravo 👏🏼
Perfect!
