Word. Since Schon and Cain want to continue touring they should be bending over backwards to keep Arnel happy. They had the gold standard with Perry, and Arnel is the next best thing. They won't find any one with the voices and stage presences of Perry and Pineda. Most major acts aren't able to find a comparable replacement when they lose their lead singer. Journey lucked out in finding Pineda. Having typed Perry & Pineda I now want them to tour together as duo.

Castronova has said that his voice could not do an entire concert, night after night. At this point, it seems that Arnel can also use the break that Castronova contributes because his vocal chords are increasingly strained, as well. Having both of them is what makes it work now. Still wish it was Steve Perry though, always, by far. I don't listen to or go to the clone concerts. They should have considered what Jeff Scott Soto could have brought to reliven the band, but they burned him, and he still took the high road on his response to what they did to him. Gregg Rolie probably should now distance himself, which is a shame. And Steve Perry may have had some personal issues that led him to become controlling, but that (especially since he publicly apologized and owned up to it and did so much to try to make up for his mistakes) seems like nothing in comparison to the embarrassing dump that Cain and Schon has created of Journey and its legacy now.

The ultimate huge hits that made Journey famous were written primarily but Cain & Perry! Agree with so many comments about greed by Schon. Sad to end the Journey legacy this way.
I’m a Journey fan from the Steve Perry days. It’s sad what’s going on with the band and that it’s no longer about the music. Clearly, Schon and his wife are trying to squeeze every last dime out of the “Journey” name. The band has been over-working Arnel for years. It takes a lot of money to live like a “Rock Star”! I find it sad that one of the most successful bands in history are ending on such a disgraceful note. These are all old men that are all very wealthy and to ruin their legacy by going out fighting over money and egos is just beyond belief. The biggest names involved have more money than they could spend in five lifetimes. Why let your last years be about drama instead of letting the music speak for itself and celebrating their collective talents? Money is not the problem. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
To me, the trouble maker here is "Mrs. Schon". There was never any legal battles or bickering until she came along. She was not part of the original group with Gregg and Steve and she runs around calling them evil names and trying to take away their copyright and trademark rights because she is greedy, feeling like Neal deserves everything just because he doesn't know how to manage his money. He always needs to be on the road because that's where the $$$ is. That's why he needed Steve to get his surgery....money! As Steve said, "This is not a band decision". Unfortunately, to the others, it was a cash decision. Steve wasn't physically able to it. As a huge fan, it pisses me off. I wish little miss greedy would get her nose out of the band's business, old and new, and keep her snotty nose out of it. That's my POV.

Usually incredibly talented bands are broken up shortly by ego's. But the one's in the hall of fame seem to not let this destroy their dream or vision. We know who they are.
Money and greed is behind it all. Maybe certain members need to live within their means.
Deen Castrnovo is a total vocal bad ass. Everything he sings sounds awesome. Those who keep holding onto Steve Perry are just wasting their energy. There is no amount of money that can be paid for Steve to ever work with that ego maniac midget Neil Schon. I’m a big Journey fan but sadly I wouldn’t waste another dollar on this drama filled band. I will also add that while Greg Rollie is a legend. His time has come and gone with Journey

Jonathan Cain is also a legend. Steve will never come back. Among reasons, he can't do it anymore. They'd have to change the song keys more than a half step, and it would sound terrible and unrecognizable from what fans know. The window of a reunion has long passed. They shouldn't have tossed him when they did though, and waited for him to recover.

Steve Perry would rather put his own arm down his throat and rip his vocal cords out, as well as his spleen and kidneys....before he would ever do anything with Journey again!!! Neal Schon is an egomaniac. If I were Arnel..I would walk. Let them get on the best way they can? Let Cain and Schon rip each others heads off. TOXIC
@2:42 You mention Journey's original drummer Steve Smith?? Steve Smith wasn't the original drummer!! Nothing worse than a reporter who can't get it right. Aynsley Dunbar was Journey's original drummer on their first 4 albums up to Infinity.

Love this channel. Keep up the great work.
Neal’s on a power trip and won’t stop,he doesn’t make the band by himself,I say they get rid of him and continue with Valory and Smith back in
This makes me want to get drunk and sleep on the hood of my car
While Steve Smith was a member of the classic Escape lineup, he was not an original member.
None of this started until after Herbie died. Herbie created Journey not Neal Schon
This isn’t Journey, this is the Neil Schon cover band. It stopped being Journey when Steve Perry left.
ARNEL (keep singing ) fan of your works .We Love how you are using the scales .AMAZING .
Schon’s wife is doing her best Sharon Osborne imitation.
Seems like there’s always one name that’s mentioned in each of these individual fights… things that make you go hmmmm 🤔
Journeys Original drummer was Prairie Prince
It’s a shame the greed has corrupted a few of them. They should be thankful for what they have contributed to music overall and how their music is legendary throughout generations. Their music will live on beyond their graves as many legends do. The Beatles, Elvis, John Lennon, etc
The soap opera that is Journey somehow continues to get worse. It's mindboggling. The lawsuits, the backstabbing, the infighting, the bitterness, the bad blood. It just never ends.
"Schon and his wife operate a joint facebook account" - This is all we need to know.
Hmmm...take a look at Neal Schon's history regarding greed and ego and also examine the history of his wife regarding greed and shenanigans and you'll have all the answers. Such a sad state of affairs of a legendary band.
Clearly the one constant in every issue with this band and it’s members is Schon. It’s quite evident he is the problem.
I’ve completely lost interest in them. Passed on seeing them when they came to my city. It’s a shame. One of the best continuing to tarnish their legacy with so much pettiness.
I will always be a fan of Neal Shon’s guitar work/writing, but I’ve soured on his attitude towards all the other members.
You can tell SOMETHING is up. I have watched a bunch of recent concerts and those two are NEVER near each other on stage.
With Rock Bands you take what you can get while the magic lasts. The more brilliant and talented they are the shorter they last. Buffalo Springfield is a good example. We were spoiled by the Beatles, The Stones, CSNY and others. Many of these bands were filled with talented solo artists that wanted that future.
Pink Floyd, Van Halen, the Beatles, Journey, KISS, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, the list goes on. Internal band strife and discord (which I've witnessed and been involved in MANY times having been in about a dozen bands) , are a VERY common thing. Bands are VERY much like a marriage, and sometimes marriages go bad. Finger pointing, public sniping, "scenes and incidents occurring", all part of the process. NO ONE--is ever completely guilty, and no one is ever completely innocent. 99.99% of the time, EVERYONE in the group tends to act, and react poorly. It may sometimes only take the actions of one to kickstart the turmoil, but inevitably everyone ends up contributing their fair share of bad behavior. That's just how it is. The best example I can give is this, though I'm sure some will disagree, as I'm also fairly confident that those who do disagree, are disagreeing as a FAN, and not as a musician or band member. """Everything that DLR said about Edward Van Halen is TRUE. Everything that EVH said about DLR, IS ALSO TRUE."""" Everything Roget Waters accuses David Gilmour of is TRUE. Everything David Gilmour says about Roger Waters "oppressive control" and arrogance is ALSO TRUE. Welcome to rock 'n' roll. Welcome to the "bidness". There is no doubt in my mind, that Neil Schon is guilty of being petty, and greedy. There is also no doubt in my mind that he's RIGHT, a good portion of the time. Same can be said for the rest of the guys, with the possible exception of Gregg Rolie, who's been out of the Journey picture for a long time, and is understandably cautious of getting into the middle of a bitter divorce that's not of his making. Everyone should remember though, Journey had already been conceived by Neal Schon, and Gregg Rolie BEFORE they left Santana in '72, and Neal is the only founding member whose never left the band. Saying that Neal Schon doesn't have cause, to feel about Journey the way he does, is ABSURD, in the same way that saying EVH didn't have the right to feel the way he did about the band that BORE HIS NAME. Journey would have no legacy AT ALL without Neal Schon. Period. The sad part is Gregg being put of by all this bickering.
I've been a fan of journey and schon since the 70's but it's pretty obvious that with all the problems that have cropped up in the last several years with journey there's been 1 constant in all of them..neil schon. Even the incomparable Gregg Rollie is now having problems with him.... wouldn't it be great if Cain, Pineda, Castronovo and Rollie all made a band without Schon just to see how good it would be.

Journey has been a soap opera since it was founded with ex-Santana members. I haven't really been following them since Perry left. I don't remember a single Journey song worth a flip from Journey that Steve Perry wasn't a part of.
Journey ended in 1987 it's been a cover band ever since.
Its only when Perry and Cain came onboard that Journey got big with the sappy ballads and all. Nobody remembers the Rolie led years and a concert featuring only tracks from Rolie Journey will have a poor ticket takeup.
Just a clear example of how a band can fuck up their legacy by being clouded with greed and ego
Seems to me we are closer to the root problem here. It’s very sad that Neil has gone for this cash grab and now alienated several band members that have gotten the band to the level they’re at now. The band’s legacy is being severely tarnished now and it’s very sad to watch.
They make so much goddamn money that many in the band can't say no to new tours despite what are clearly internal difficulties.
I was at the recent palmdale Acrisure 50th anniversary concert. Started with Arnel et al Don't Stop Believing and it was so fast i didn't even realize it was Don't Stop Believing!!! Im NOT putting down AP! I am a classically trained opera singer and pianist (5 sharps in Faithfully people! 5) and Cain did a beautiful rendition as a salute to our heroic military and I was in awe. Schon used the whole show to show off. That's my take. My date and I looked at each other and were reading each other's minds. That's all I'm going to say about my Legendary Journey. Yoko Ono was instrumental in breaking up the Beatles...enough said. Yes I'm 63yo, yes I'm a republican, today is Friday July 28, 2023. Happy 50th Anniversary to Journey!

And folks wonder why Perry will not sing with them anymore.....I am and was a huge journey fan....Funny there is a Old saying if there is a problem find the constant source....every time some happens Neal is at the Center....Perry said in a interview a few years back with CBS about a reunion with journey....he said he believes in moving forward....and to him that would be a step back...Neal is still Living in the Past Money Hungry ....playing all the old Hits ...needs the Money to keep his young wife happy and Pay for his Plastic Surgery...they have just become a Journey Tribute Band to themselves I truly hate to see this in such a Iconic Band...that had so much talent......I can not blame Steve and Greg to distance them selves from all the crap being tossed around now.....truly a Shame....
I don't get why anyone in the band would be against Greg Rolie returning for the anniversary tour.

The only talent this Lil 5 ft. man (Arnel) has is impersonating, imitating and singing all STEVE PERRY old hits songs. 🤣😆🤣🤣This little man will NEVER be a true, multi-talented (The voice/Hits songs writer) as Steve Perry or Mariah Carey in his lifetime. I'm just going to keep it real. This is why we NEVER heard Arnel's original hits song playing on the radio or any new material on KZread.
They all are in the “drama” together. Drama makes money. Thank goodness Steve Perry is smarter than them all. Arnel may be sweet, but he plays the game, too. Rollie is a game player, too. I still listen to the music with Steve Perry as the lead singer. Thanks .

@@wallofrock6725 Schon and Cain fired Valory and Smith a second time. Neal and Jon are paranoid freaks. They are performing for money only. Duh? If you watch an interview, Steve Perry said if he could change or redo things he would have. At the time and moment it seemed okay. I think we all have done things we regret. Steve Perry had no financial dealings to make. He left Journey at its peak. They were making tons of money. Steve wrote or co-wrote at least 90% of Journey songs that Arnel is singing. Sure, I would want my cut. Many artists have sued for their cuts after they left their band. Steve does not stand alone.
All this feuding going on with his band and you have to start looking at what is the common denominator which is Neal Schon. I really believe it’s the end of the road for this band because without Jonathan Cain, Ross on base Steve Smith on drums it’s just not the same journey anymore. Arnel has done a great job for 20 years if I was him I’d be looking for a way out myself to go live my life. I know Arnel has said they can let him go at any time so evidently his contract holds him to the band and that’s the reason he hasn’t walked away.
Personally, I think it's to wrap it up. I absolutely love Journey, all phases of their long career. But with that said this situation has just become a joke. When the lawsuits outweigh the music being performed there's something seriously wrong. I'm an old man so when I see the bands I grew up listening to, Journey, Queensryche, tearing themselves apart it just makes me equal parts pissed and sad. Agree to disagree and go your "Separate Ways", see what I did there!? Do these guys really want to be remembered for court dates or music.
Journey is nothing more than just a tribute band now. I wouldn't go see them even if it was free, let alone pay an arm and a leg for an over-priced ticket.
saw them last July in Provo it was a great show an they seemed to enjoy themselves a great an the lead singer did a great job.

I wish they would have a real Journey reunion with all original members including Steve Perry as singer. That would be amazing.
Neal seems to be kind of a hot head. Years ago I was on his FB page and I innocently mentioned that he and Greg had founded Journey after they left Santana. He was furious and said that only he was the original founder of Journey and then banned me from his page. I love his playing but he needs a serious ego check. He's not even in the top 25 of best rock guitarists. Hopefully it all gets resolved because this is getting to be a really bad reality show.
Time for Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory and Steve Smith to put together a new band, no more Neal Schon, the source of all Journey conflicts, no more drama, just AWESOME music and they get to pick their own guitarist, Ritchie Sambora maybe?, they will be AWESOME together!, hope they consider it! 👍🏻👍🏻
