You use the the High F key (above b natural key), the Bb key (under the b natural and the Bb right hand side key.

He is using a muted cymbal.

Mike Hawk It's a dry ride cymbal, not a crash. Plus, the mix is through the sound board, which on a big stage like that (especially at a festival) means the mics are only going to catch parts of the kit. You can see him whaling away at the ride cymbal during the whole clip, and you only hear it when he hits the bell, or when it washes up enough to be loud.
