Josh James new zealand adventure VLOG 247 homesteading stuff and the factor of fluff catch n cook

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Another mucking around episode
catching and cooking and building and firewood and bits and pieces
The winter blues have kicked in after the run of fine weather. Snow on the way this weekend and next week - school holidays and winter camping and hunting missions!
I can see why bears hibernate during the winter months.
I finally went to the doctor to get my ass looked at. She reckons Im extremely lucky I didnt get an infection due to the massive amount of bruising. Half my ass was black and blue, my balls were and still are black and the top of the femur is bruised as well. Found out my tailbone is probably broken but its healing fast so all good!
Everything still works and I didnt lose a leg. Im just recording a Q & A podcast and will whack that up tommorow.
Gonna head out for a hunt tonight and try knock a deer over.
Its a fickle business hunting in the winter months on the west coast, as the deer all bugger off into the hills.
Have a marvelous rest of your week and stay warm this weekend!

haha I remember going to the river with my brothers and helping the old man with collecting firewood. There was always one more log that looked too good to pass by. At that time I never really understood how hard my dad worked for something as simple as a warm home.

Mrs Vercoe’s gravy recipe is legendary, comprised of roasting pan juice, plain flour and gumboot tea, from the teapot. Salt and pepper with a dob of butter.

my gravy recipe is the fatty juices from the meat in a saucepan veggie stock teaspoon of marmite and two bay leaves and cook it till it reduces down and add a teaspoon of corn flour with water to thicken and it comes out mint every time

Before bistro was available here and affordable in the 1950's we had roast every Sunday and my mom's gravy recipe was plain flour into the roasting dish but she also added Marmite stirred in. Was a great taste from memory but after 70 years it probably would taste like shit now. But at least it would mask the stench of lamb or hogget whichever was on the menu that particular Sunday and Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday was always shepherds pie.
