A very interesting lecture! He also wrote to Jews in Aramaic. No one has that original . It is self evident the Church had an intense agenda to add modify Josephus to endorse their theology. Oddly,There are hundreds of variant versions of the christian bibles none match the earliest original koine greek or hebrew sources. Thank you.

Regarding the hypothesis that Josephus influenced Luke/Acts, it seems important to note the possibility that the influence may have been redactional (i.e., a later insertion), and may not have appeared in the earliest drafts of Luke & Acts.

I would have thought that going to the body of digitised copies of Josephus's writing and creating a synthesis to replace Niese's C19 one would have been the thing to do BEFORE producing a 30-volume analysis of Josephus; why do it this way round?

i am beginning to imagine marcion possesing the first proto gospel.. and the pauline letters either as author, redactor or just collecting these texts to counter the jewish scriptures because he has resources to do so... thus starting the idea/concept of the new testament/ covenant

So can we say josephus really wrote or Christians wrote in his name and back dated it. How we know?

I understood we have unaltered copies of Josephus preserved by Islam.

Professor Mason said of Josephus that he remained a Jew and it was a shame he didn’t become a Christian. I believe it is better that he was not a Christian so that his history was less likely to be written with a Christian agenda. To me his historical accounting is more likely to be reliable for this reason.

So there's nothing original from Josephus?? Looks like everything's been tampered with

There are no true original copies of Josephus remaining. By the 4th century there was only 1 surviving copy of Josephus, and that was in the possession of St. Ambrose. You can deduct for yourself what that means.

The Five Cs of history. The discipline of history is limited. An historian can say that that people "believe" that Muhammad was the final prophet of Allah. But not that he is the prophet. They can say people "believed" he split the moon or fly to Jerusalem on a magic animal . But can't say if they happened historically. What is the difference between myth and history?

No proof it was added later. That's the common argument. I am skeptical about that.

Problems with translating Josephus. Bigger problem interpreting Josephus. Christians respect Josephus way more than Jews. Ear!midst "copy" by Christians, 10th century. Corrections and additions by scribes.
