The name 'Joseph' means "God adds". He was the eleventh son of Jacob and the elder of two sons of Rachel (Genesis 30:24). Joseph was born into a family of ten older brothers and at least one sister. His father, Jacob, had four wives, but Joseph was the firstborn of Rachel, who was the true love of Jacob's life (Genesis 29:30). Unfortunately, Joseph's mother passed away when his younger brother Benjamin was born (Genesis 35:17-19).
