Jose Canseco on Madonna, A-Rod & J-Lo, PED Use, Mark McGwire, Going Broke (Full Interview)

Ойын-сауық

In this VladTV exclusive, two-time World Series champion and former MVP Jose Canseco sat down for an interview detailing his life and career. The retired baseball player revealed that he wasn't a standout high school player and received no college offers, prompting him to join the minor leagues for a $10,000 signing bonus. After struggling his first few years in the minors, the turning point came when he started using performing-enhancing drugs after promising his mom on her deathbed that he'd become the best player in the world.
After becoming the minor league's Player of the Year, he described winning the Rookie of the Year and American League MVP as a member of the Oakland Athletics. While describing his three consecutive World Series appearances, he also cleared the air on his multiple legal incidents as well as his interactions with Madonna and Alex Rodriguez. He also explained how two multimillion divorces and bad investments left him broke after signing the biggest contract in MLB history at the time. Canseco also talked about being blackballed from baseball after exposing MLB's PED crisis in his book, "Juiced." To hear more, view the full interview above.

Kinda thought it was shifty what he did with the steroid telling thing, but I am glad I read this. Sometimes it's easy to judge celebrities, but they are just people like me who become superstars and rich as a kid. I forget to look at my self and realize what kind of a dick I would of been if I was in that situation. It's nice I haven't really liked him for a whe and reading this I realize that and totally do again. It's dumb but cool

I met Jose playing pick up water volleyball games at a hotel in Hawaii, back in the early 90s. He had recently been chosen MVP. I think he was with his first wife. He made it fun, while playing to win just as he did in baseball. I was on his team and he was encouraging and funny, and made you feel like you were a real part of a team. He was never an elitist. He was real. Jose, you are the best. Thank you for being you.

I'm a major reader. I study health, and for one, I always want to do what's good for me and my human body, both short term and long term. One of the studies has been that of anabolic steroids. " They are bad for you, ...and they will kill you!" I'm 72 years old now. Some super famous bodybuilders and actors have taken lots of steroids, or pde's, whatever we want to call them. The idea is to take ANYTHING that you put into your human body as a MED. As in a Minimum EFfective Dose, and not 10x as much, not 50x as much, but not twice as much either! THAT is what goes Against your body, your health, and your life.

He never looked up, never said hello, or smiled at the kids, just kept signing. I was shocked. I took it as arrogance and really turned me off. Said he would pull up in his fancy car or boat, and had no problem trying to take their girlfriend or even wife away. Said he would run his mouth and start fights in clubs then have his bodyguards handle it. I get it that, to have all of the money and fame thrown at you when you’re young, it can go to your head. But it’s just sad to see these former players who had all of that money, have to pimp themselves out to do stupid “celebrity boxing “ or whatever, just to make ends meet now.

Just like Lance with his axl rose shorts, rule breaking scum. He didn't sell books from this interview to the tune of 10s of thousands. Lol no way. It's 2021-2 people don't by books they watch shit like this. His last book was published 10+ yrs ago and it's worth pointing out the commission on p.e.d. in MLB published a report that named all the same people aside from the 2 jose named in vindicated published after the report and he claimes was to correct the record of that report. The people he named that wound up in court, they all admitted to it under oath. That's pretty telling. Not one slander suit.. So I don't really get where your coming from.

This is one of the best interviews of any athlete or celebrity I’ve ever listened to; John Salley is the other. Jose Canseco’s blunt honesty is riveting and the standard for anyone in this realm.

I saw both McGwire and Canseco many times at the local AAA team back in the 80s. And saw both on rehab stints at AAA after they made it to the big leagues and were hugely, hugely popular. McGwire on his returns was aloof, abrupt, and wouldn't sign shit unless it was a team staffer bringing something to him. Canseco was the complete opposite. I sat and watched him sign autographs for at least an hour after a rehab game once. He even signed stuff for us older kids which was rare. he spoke with everyone and could not have been cooler. And there was no press. This was a dumpy AAA stadium and he had no reason at all to stay and sign and talk to everyone. But he did. And he did it with a smile on his face and was beyond cool to everyone there. He instantly became my favorite player at that time. Everyone dogged on him years later, but he was a great guy to the fans. Always liked him and wish him the best in the future. It's funny how a guy as great to fans as Canseco gets shit on, but other guys who treated fans horribly (Jr, for one, saw it MANY times) are worshipped today.
