Mike Madden visits Roland Jorns at Jorns' Sugar Bush in Egg Harbor. The Jorns family has one of the largest maple sugar operations in Wisconsin and has been running the business for 3 generations. We learn how it works and get to see the equipment in operation.

why is everyone convinced that throwing the ice away "helps concentrate the sap" ? as an experiment i kept all the ice from my buckets seperate, melted/boiled it down and made syrup from it. so it can't just be water that freezes.
