Jorke Grotenhuis | Hieroglyphic Sign Lists: The Thoth Sign List, Towards a Unicode Expansion
OI Explorers Lecture
Jorke Grotenhuis, postdoctoral scholar, University of California, Berkeley
This academic year, we introduce a new OI Explorers Lecture series. For our first lecture, we welcome Jorke Grotenhuis, postdoctoral scholar at Berkeley, as he presents Hieroglyphic Sign Lists: The Thot Sign List, Toward a Unicode Expansion.
Hieroglyphic sign lists have been a staple of modern Egyptology since the decipherment of the hieroglyphic script and are known to most Egyptologists as very beneficial tools. In this lecture, Grotenhuis presents a short history of sign lists, up to and including the development of the Thot Sign List.
OI lectures are free and available on KZread thanks to the generous support of our members. To become a member, please visit: bit.ly/2AWGgF7
