In the latest episode of My i-D, artist and songwriter @JorjaSmith takes us back to her beginnings as a girl growing up in the English town of Walsall and guides us through the lessons she’s learned since then.
The Gemini musician - who appeared on the cover of our Summer issue - breaks down the little lies she told as a teenager that transformed into one of her biggest songs, what her ideal day looks like and the making of her album ‘Falling or Flying’. Articulating heartbreak, Jorja follows in the creative footsteps of her idol Amy Winehouse, revealing in the interview all the life-changing people around her and what it’s like to be in love.

Jorja Smith needs to fully recognise the gift that she has and dedicate herself to her art. Health is also very important, I have no doubt that she will find her balance and feel at her best. I hope her path will cross with that of Alicia Keys as they share very similar challenges. She's capable of greatness in terms of being a songwriter and singer! Jorja's debut album is a masterpiece, it sounds like her new album is equally as good. ♥
