    I think the overall message in this song is that she is so in love with him, in despite he hurts her so much being distant and lying to her she choose to stay with him.."i've got you to let me down", like she allowed him to hurt her because of her feelings for him. It's just my perspective

    I can honestly relate so hard to the lyrics. It’s being so irrevocably in love with someone that no matter what they do to you or how little attention they give you, you’re still willing to keep that person and endure the pain just so you can cling on to whatever you have of that person. It hurts but it’s harder to let go.

    I think you can be happier if you let go instead. Let go little by little. Most of online suggests that we delete all contact, and block them and things like that but for what? Only to recontact when you get upset again. It’s not worth it. I suggest you step back slowly, you know how slow or fast you are as a person at letting go. For me, when I realised I was letting how much other people love me reflect how much I loved myself, it took so much time to try and find things to help. Eventually I did reconnect into my faith and found Jesus for myself and realised how much he loved me and how much I do not need to be hurt by others. Surely he does say whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, but then again, it doesn’t mean cut off these people automatically, sometimes you just need time. He loves us very much to the point of death for us, so you should never feel inadequate that you cling on to memories and things because it’s the only place you’ve experienced love. And it’s not love it’s you kind of being trampled on, probably being trampled on by yourself and not another person. Live free in Christ where you’re actually loved, and then slowly you’ll be able to let go. I’m still struggling to be honest, but that’s ok, faith takes time. Hope it all goes well, God bless you boss, and stop clinging. Cut off slowly slowly.

  • @kezmonkey2435

    The video works so well, mainly because it has such a deeper meaning when you look into it properly. I feel like its about her going through an unstable relationship - she wants to leave him but can’t because she’s distraught; at times it’s going well (which is represented when they’re having sex) but even during this, her conscious is asking herself “why do you let me down?” as if to show she’s disappointed and wants to let go because even she knows deep down that her partner is unfaithful and will end up hurting her. Also the running theme of her knowing she has to kill him is almost metaphorically illustrating that she already knows the outcome of the relationship, but is going with the flow anyway because she finds momentary happiness. Even when the man tells us that she failed once to kill him highlights exactly how she may have tried to leave him but couldn’t let go. Eventually she breaks up with him and throws the gun away into the river, symbolising how she was in control the whole time but perhaps didn’t realise it during the relationship. Just my thoughts on it anyway, really wanna hear other opinions cus theres so many ways to interpret art like this :) what do u guys think

  • @BabaaYaga888

    @BabaaYaga888

    The way you interpret is beautiful. I was wondering the same thing. The other interpretation can be how we go into things knowing it will not end well, and keep reminding ourselves of the doom waiting us, so she's trying not to fall in love, not to believe anyone or trust anyone because she's got "you" to let her down. But ultimately she throws away the gun, her defense,symbolizing her mental wall. Even when she knows it will break her in the end. And the way, in the end, it says, "It's done" , maybe that could mean succeeding in bringing the wall down. The people want to understand her for who she really is instead of what really she pretends to be? Well, I like both the interpretations and tend to think of them depending on my mental state

    [Verse 1: Jorja Smith] Sometimes, I wouldn't mind if I was less important Would you think about them all the time? Wonder if you'll even notice in the morning So where'd you go when you can't get to me And you just can't control? Sometimes, I wouldn't mind if I was less important [Chorus 1: Jorja Smith] But I've got you to let me down I've got you to let me down Only you can understand why I've got you to let me down [Verse 2: Stormzy] Yeah, yo, it's like You've got me, I'm pondering that Said, "I'll be back in a sec, I need to reflect" But you swear it's been longer than that Time is golden, time is thin But time is rare, so we squander and that I feel your pain when I hear your voice So fix your tone, man, you're stronger than that And you're, like, the strongest girl I know Probably the strongest, minus my mum Don't go wasting your loving on me When I see tears run, I'm likely to run So girl, don't love me, I mean it When I say I love you, I mean it And it's mad cuh I choose to be distant But it's fucked cuh I know what a queen is So why do I? [Chorus 2: Jorja Smith & Stormzy] But I've got you to let me down Why do you let me down? Why do you let me down, down, down? I've got you to let me down Sometimes, your world spins 'round But you never had a king 'til now Only you can understand why Yeah, girl, do you understand Why these feelings never come to plan? I've got you to let me down I'm never gonna let you down, I'm never gonna let you down [Bridge: Jorja Smith] Yeah, I tried, but I just can't give you up Wonder why is it that I'm not good enough? Some kind of hold over me [Chorus 3: Jorja Smith & Stormzy] I've got you to let me down I've got you, you've got me, I've got you But I've got you to let me down If I let you down, will you self-destruct? Only you, only you can understand why Only you can understand That I've got you to let me down

    I dont think it's a matter of taking over. Alot of people (including myself) already hold the UK music scene to much higher regard that the US'. They types of artists coming out of the UK is incredible. Their standards and music taste (although subjective), is not even on par with the US, they're way ahead tbh.

    Sometimes, I wouldn't mind if I was less important Would you think about them all the time?

    The overall message I get from the video. She was loving/making love to a man who didn't know her for her entirely (which explains why she is in disguise). So in a way, he is loving the false perception of her, which ultimately is why she is always "let down" by him. Considering that circumstance, its easier for her to betray or get rid of him- cause she knows that he is not truly in love or making love to the real her. The video Is sort of complicated to understand. There are so many ways to interpret it. What do you guys think?

    Alisha Brooks she got paid to kill to this man to manipulate him with her looks and sex but she killed for money and the message relates to the video saying I think she let him down because she killed him I don't know

  • @kezmonkey2435

    @kezmonkey2435

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yeah interesting thoughts, I gathered a slightly more far fetched idea from the video. Theres my thoughts, I could go on and on but lemme leave it there before I get too carried away 😂 I have an assignment to write anyways smh. Wanna hear more opinions tho lol
