I am Iranian American woman, I live in NYC and I love this man. The other day I shared my experience of growing up in Iran and witnessing the tyranny that took over after an idealigical revolution and the horrors I've seen, to help give my liberal friends a perspective. The response I got? You don't know what it's like to be black in America, therefore you're still privillaged (less than a white man but still) so you should stfu and just listen.. Impaccable logic there! Smh. We need our brothers and sisters of African decent to wake up and not be a tool for the tyranny. It always reminds me of a 1982 comedy, where the main character (a convinced socialist) asks his tenant (a successful businessman from the West suspected of espionage): "Could I kindly ask you for a favour? Please, help me not to murder you. You see, my entire life I've been humiliated and degraded by lesser intelligent and less important people. And all my life I've been on the brink of killing someone. Stalin killed thousands of you imperialist pigs, but he didn't kill enough of you. I wouldn't want to be the one, who does Stalin's work. I'm not that mad. But don't you be the one to atone for all the injustice common people had to suffer by imperialist hands. After the war, you left your castles and your slaves and went West to become even richer and wealthier. The war wasn't even over, and you were all back, with "earned" money, to build castles again and enslave people again. When is it enough?"

No wait, not really, the worse is noticing I’m having to lean heavily on one of those ‘sides’ because it at least hears me out still, and therefore something could be helped and done. This is probably what happens before any terrorism organization or even war starts... eventually you notices everything is a bunch of lies, no one is agreeing to disagree anymore, people are overly aggressive, things are crumbling.. and you suddenly have no other choice but to fight in one group even if you’ve spent your whole life only studying and working hard, not harming anyone... to then risk it all duo to idiots. It's not like he said chocolate ice cream invented or something crazy. Peterson just had a podcast with his daughter explaining what's been going on. He was indeed in very harsh times, medically and emotionally for many months. Thank God he is finally feeling better. His main problems consisted of possibly losing his wife to cancer and then experiencing akathisia when stopping an antidepressive/anxiety medication. I can tell you akathisia is hell and I went through it myself for several months, however my situation was due to taking a drug and not from coming off one and thankfully my symptoms immediately cleared after stopping use of a prescription causing the side effect. Peterson suffered from this for months, meaning he wouldn't have been able to sit in place for more than a few minutes at a time, drive a car, watch a movie, sit down for a meal. He probably spent 10 hours a day pacing back and forth in his house or chain smoking cigarettes as was the case for me for 2-3 months straight. I couldn't even drive my car longer than 3-5 minutes without pulling off to the side of the road to pace back and forth for 10 minutes or so before attempting to drive again. It was utter hell.

As far as the weird attacks on him I see them as attacks on his character. Many people today are trying to feel good about themselves through virtue signaling, whether that's saying shit they think sounds good or they are trying to be something they aren't. In most circumstances it involves someone trying to display unwarranted sympathy towards ideas they don't understand or aren't mature enough to understand or appreciate fully. And so I think these types of people are envious of Jordan having a truly mature and completely developed personality and character, something that one only develops through a long amount of experience. Today we get so many opinions from so many inexperienced people that Jordan is a definitive threat to them. A fake it till you make it personality type is never going to win an argument against a man like this. He's clear, he's concise, and he's right. He can show emotion, yet he is not emotional.

@sifil311 as someone who spends a lot of time in his mind thinking about complex ideas and topics like Jordan Peterson does you start to see patterns in life. You start to see the bigger pictures and the nests the make up society. These ideas he's expressing are not likely novel ideas he has, but him verbalizing his internal concept of the world. I'm not saying that he isn't thinking about the question he's being given but he's likely already formulates answers to a majority of questions people can ask him. If you have been watching him long enough it's really interesting when he gives a novel response. He stops talking and he will just sit there and think about it for 30 seconds to a min and then he will very carefully and precisely give an answer to question.

Many sensible people I know who are conservative have told me they have stopped following the news because it was too upsetting. Some people will not allow themselves to be radicalized. It is otherwise, however, very difficult to not fall into the same trap that they have fallen into. Fanatical self-righteousness. When I heard people were gathered around a hospital blocking it off to shout they hope they police who were ambushed die and to tell the officers outside you're next, I very much wanted to be there with a paintball gun. But you have to not do that kind of thing, you vote, you petition your congressman, write articles, point to censorship, point to injustice against conservatism and conservatives. Engaging in battle leads to escalation. And the left serves a purpose. They try to keep corporations in check. They try to keep the lowest from having nothing. Unfortunately, they have become quite corrupt and quite fanatically religious in their politics. This is pulling them from their purpose which endangers us. Something needs to be done about the far left's control of academia before it's too late. I hate censorship and thought police, so I am uncertain of the solution. I am fearful that we may be doomed to lose because we cannot stoop to their level without becoming actual fascists. I feel like a pacifist trying to defeat a militarist in war. How do you win a war of dialogue against people falsely using hate speech as a means to censor you and others on your side? Who control academia, the media, and social media? Look at the way the questioner frames his question and tries to lure Peterson into his ideological thinking. He has an extreme hostile and arrogant view towards progressives, says there is a “red pill” movement of people that know the real true truths. By that he of course means HIS ideological truths. The whole red pill crap is the equivalent of progressive people that claim to be “woke”, think about that. I’m not saying this as a leftist, bc I’m not that left. I do know my 14-year old cousin is a more sophisticated thinker than this questioner. Peterson is sympathetic towards him, but KNOWS he has so much to learn. He now has 36 rules for life (three books)...Jesus had two, the 2nd of which is "love your neighbour as you love yourself". If we all did that, we would NOT need 36 rules, or JP, or 'winning' an argument with your wife/GF or partner, we would NOT need to win at all. Striving - accumulation would cease, 'greed' would cease to exist and would end. Marketing would die (yay!), and consumption would almost end, almost. We would all be more submissive, tolerant, NOT selfish, but giving and kind because of our love for one another. BUT, some ONE has to start first. Be the first to forgive and give of themselves FIRST. Who is it going to be...YOU!?? Let's hope.

@@gbsailing9436 I agree that treating people as you want to be treated (Which is what I get from "love your neighbor as yourself) is an excellent general rule to live by, but didn't Jesus say to live by 6 commandments? As in- You shall do no murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. He did also mention giving all to charity multiple times. Personally, I act in a way that, if everyone acted the same way, I would be happy to live in such a world, because I believe that my actions influence other people, doing good encourages more good, stealing someone's lunch at work makes them more likely to feel justified in stealing someone else's lunch. That's basically my approach to all this, and it's pretty simple- act how you want others to act, even when nobody is watching, because those actions still effecr people

The numbers show that unarmed deaths by cops on white people outnumber that of black people 19:9, and accounting for population, then crime rate, the figure actually shows a slight less chance of an unarmed black being killed than a white person. But of course, as always, the left hijacks this tragedy and uses it to propagate their flawed 'Black Lives Matter' movement, which generalises issues within the black community to 'systemic racism' as opposed to personal responsibility, crime rates within black communities, households. Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements - extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics".[9]

Austrian here! Close, but not completely correct. The Austro-Hungarian Empire was anything else in these days then a major European power. More of a factual second tier power. It was only "important" in regard of size of territory and (very diverse) population. And while its true that the killing of its heir to the throne set things in motion, it was hardly the real cause. The causes of WW1 are a complex topic, and there exist lots of different opinions and theories. The First- and Second Moroccan Crisis fe are seen as forerunners to WW1. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4OmrMuSk9Tdo7Q.html

Orlando Allen, I so want to believe what you just said. And I respect your opinion and the thoughtful talk that Dr. Peterson gave, but I’m not sure that I fully agree. Hard leftism, I.e. Marxism / Communism / Nazism (yes, to me at the end of the day they are the same) / Antifa etc., will crush large swaths of people over generations if that fire gets out of control. History has yielded horrors beyond believe, we need to learn from it and not repeat the mistakes of others. Some times turning the other cheek can lead to the industrialized murder of innocent people by the millions before it is stopped, and what a price that will be to pay. Anyways, I hope you are correct and I’m wrong. Certainly if the vast majority of people followed the lead and divine teaching of Christ we’d be in a much better, safer, and happier place.
