I cringed a little. Then I thought, and, mind ya, I'm not responsible for my thoughts. I dont think about thinking them, they just pop in my noggin without my consent and outside the boundary of things I can control. Anyway, the thought: "Can you guys jerk each other off AFTER the podcast, please?" I pretty much agreed with him too, about the compliments he hj-ed Joe Rogan. And I don't know the context of the prior conversation that this clip was taken from, so maybe it sounded less circle jerk congratulatory than it actually was. Like I said, it was just my brain's unthinking, instant reaction.

@@mome6889 Actually humor is a characteristic that usually belongs in smart people. And having a self-esteem is also permitted in smart people ya know. It's true that the so called Dunning-Kruger effect exists, and in abundance, especially today with the media, but it's not mandatory to consider yourself dumb if you're smart, and I'd even say it would be hypocritical to say you don't like to be called smart, we all do, smart or dumb, it's just inevitable. In fact there are people that somehow follow an imperative of pretending not to like it and trying to believe, but that's usually just what it is, because deep down they do want to considered smart, and have just known about that same effect.

Joe is interesting to me because he knows a little bit, about everything. You can discuss anything with him, and he knows when to be a student and when to be the lecturer. He embraces his own knowledge and doesn't go on and on about topics he has no knowledge about, he rather asks questions, listens and learns. He also has the ability catch people off guard when they say something they know they don't mean, or that HE knows is wrong or immoral. Meaning you can't really small talk with him on the podcast, because he will catch it and ask about it, ending with him teaching you a lesson. Watch the podcast with Jon Jones for instance, Jon has had some stuff to deal with in the past year, because of stupid decisions. Joe really cares about Jon's career, and he doesn't let Jon sit there and speak empty words. He will say "Well you can't think that way, 'cause that way of thinking will just drag you down even more" .... - He has that way of being a reasonable ground pillar, that won't take shit. + He's a smart guy, fundamentally. This makes for a good podcast.

It's amusing when Joe's critics say that he "agrees with whatever his guest says". Letting your guest have their say (which is probably why they showed up) is not the same as "agreeing", a fact which is lost on a lot of people these days. They want to see a fight, with their emotional stand-in scoring a knockout, or at least a win. It isn't Joe's style.

Being a great conversationalist, having interesting guests, but mainly allowing for true and honest conversation without any chance for misrepresentation - something we see way to often in mainstream media. Allowing people to convey their opinions through the longform style of a podcast is a great way to really get to know someone, and Joe is completely conscious of this. I made a video looking at this topic too, also covering why podcasts in general have become so popular!

It's so damn apparent that "old media" manipulates, and strate up lies. Podcasts are where it's at, if you really want to understand who someone is, or to understand something better in general. Reading is good too, but podcasts are much less time consuming and you can listen at work.

This is an extremely important discussion. I did a project on this in high school more than 20 years ago where I tried to elucidate the crisis in the media landscape. I pointed out that the tendency for non-nuanced discussion and sensation journalism was a potential danger and corruption of the fourth power. The TV-series "The Newsroom" came closest to show what I really meant with "objective journalism", but now the fall of subjective journalism is happening for real. Fascinating!

The New York Times posted a job advertisement in India specifically requiring for the person to be idealogically against the current prime minister and his government's perspectives. When a newspaper makes it a prerequisite for you to be biased for you to be hired, it says a lot about how far out they are.

I absolutely love how deliberate JP is with his word choice. He speaks very literally and even defines his own words to further explain his stance. Too many people just speak inaccurately and expect others too “know what I mean” . People dont understand this level of communication and thats why he gets misrepresented so much.

I love watching you two, Oddballs !! !!!! And I only mean that because you are both different to each other but have an intellectual hunger for the truth and your both interested in what each other are saying. Its always a two way debate/conversation . You both have respect for each other which is a great start for any conversation. Informative, imaginative and truthful.

Peterson is a breath of fresh air. His objectivity and honesty are probably his biggest hallmarks. Its either because he's a scientist or its just because that's the way he is. By the way the insights on journalism and clickbait are golden. I've noticed it as well, but even though its easy to blame CNN for its own polarization and seemingly destined demise, I wonder if CNN's content being sold is simply a reaction to a new consumer priority. I'd say if that priority changes it could see CNN adapt and continue to exist, but the caveat is that people are going online for their longform. If CNN can adapt to that, they might do better. Maybe they'll offer Rogan a hefty contract.
