Jordan Peterson Debunks Intersectionality | Short Clips

Intersectionality is the newest fad in political activism. What is it? Who’s involved? And, what does it even mean? Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Ben Shapiro break it all down.

And that's exactly why they're pushing it -- to subvert reason and logic, using language to mold reality to their advantage. All it will take is a single generation before this becomes the new normal, because babies born today will grow up with The Ten Intersections of Oppression -- just as generations before them grew up with the Ten Commandments. (I wonder which ideology will produce a better reality for all. 🤔) Ultimately, tyrants can not achieve the power they so desperately crave if they don't succeed in tossing logic from the culture entirely. That's why efforts to remove it from general education began damn near a century ago.

honestly, what's there not to understand? let's take 2nd wave feminism as an example. although the movement has definitely achieved important things there's no denying that it mainly helped rather wealthy white women. why? well, because poor or poor and black women, especially in the 60s, 70s and 80s not only had to deal with sexism, but also economic injustice and rampant racism. thus, feminism wasn't able to adress the problems these groups were statistically overwhelmingly facing. that's why many people started to advocate for a more intersectionality within feminism. there's a lot more that could be said regarding this topic but let's leave it at that for now. maybe, instead of letting conservatives explain to you left-wing political theory, look it up yourself and dive into some scientific literature and articles. shapiro completely oversimplifies and misrepresents the term.

Because of that, they haven't given up despite their disabilities. However, all of those people that claim to be victim of whatever... they do nothing else than claiming to be a victim, and want everyone to do pretty much everything for them. not help, just get their way paved for them. if it were up to me.... Just the way it has "always been." So, I followed the intersectionality video to youtube for comments (of course, where you get the truth) and guess what? Video after video promoting this crap had their comments turned off. Do you want to know why? You know, that was a rhetorical question. I wish we could make a distinction between those that study intersectional issues and what happens in the mainstream media with the victimization Olympics. Intersectionality is just a theoretical lens that academics use when studying disadvantage or discrimination, it's used often because the conclusions of the theory are often accurate, but it remains just the starting point from which we can research and develop real policy solutions. It's healthy for a society to figure out why black women are out earned by white women, or why Natives are overrespresented in Canadian prisons. We want to make sure they believe that they have the same shot at upward mobility as anyone else in our societies so that their potential isnt lost to all of us.

Social science is seeing people as a collective. Political science, sociology, international affairs, law, anthropology, psychology, and even more. To test any theory or hypothesis, these sciences need to see the collective, not an individual because outliers can skew data and must be explained.

@ajax515 Catagorical data such as white male, black male, white female, and black female are all categories used to create data sets to analyze the similarities and differences of these groups via social science. Intersectionality simply places you as an indvidual into one of these groups and acknowledges the overall trend thid grouo has relating to its history, political status, socioeconomic status, etc. Its not used to dehumanize you but to put into perspective why certain trends exist among that sub group of people.

@@carlojacques1225 maybe, but the end result is often used to dehumanize. I say this because if the data gathered is used in a way that devalues the individual it certainly is dehumanizing. I am a 60 year old white woman. I attended a diversity inclusion training where the whole 3.5 hours was spent giving me data on why all white people are racist. The PhD in sociology that taught (lectured) the class used her data to prove (?) the victimization of people of color and why all white people are the perpetrators? My point is she used her expertise to create the false narrative that all white people are racist.

@@karenp144 I think youve missed the message. She used a generalized method of stating this fact: The overall message was that the problems of the negro are not the primary concern of the majority of the white American populace, the same populace that solely has the ability to alter the course of their growth in the nation, such as the civil rights act of 1964, and multiple laws thereafter that assisted in closing off the ability to oppress this community. These concepts arent simple. After analyzing data, you begin to see trends among this group and how theyve shaped the experience of other groups in the country over the past century. From minorities to the LGBTQ. The generalized conclusion she made was putting all that research and structure into a simple quote. It may have felt like an attack on your identity but it was simply trying to compartmentalize sociological fact into a shape that you could better understand.

I agree that looking at trends (maybe not the right word) can help us gather data that help us identify patterns in behavior. But that is a collective pool of info not very good when the desire is to learn about a unique individual. If your point is some groups of people are mean I guess they are or can be once again this still falls short when addressing specifics of any one individual? Am I still lost? I just know that people grouped by gender, ethnicity, culture, geography, or religion could follow some patterns but once again leaves individuality in the trash. 😣 I would prefer to create a relationship to know (learn) how wonderful most people can be if just given the opportunity.

@MissZoey007 There's some benefit to being white... because it IMPLIES (only) that you/me/we live in a Western country... which is definitely a huge benefit. The rest... no... no benefit to being middle-aged unless you've worked hard... and are old enough to have developed some maturity while still being young enough to retain your health... but that applies to EVERY racial/ethnic/gender group... As for being MALE... it's never, not once that I can recall in my middle-aged life, benefited me. Quite the contrary, in fact... I had to register for the draft... pay more for car insurance... pay the bill on dates... open the doors for my FEMALE companion... (and get SLAMMED by a feminist for "patronizing her"!)... raise and lower toilet seats for the convenience of the females... be passed over for promotions in order to meet "diversity" (including gender) requirements... and the list goes on. As for (American) politicians (and I strongly suspect in other Western nations as well), YES... they are overwhelmingly male, and white... but most politicians of EVERY stripe are "looking out for #1".... themselves... and that usually means being re-elected... and to do that, they have catered, STRONGLY... to the FEMALE voting demographic... because those SAME "protect women" and "promote women" policies tend to gain them a lot of MALE votes, too.
