Agree 100%. At the money some of these WR1s expect there are huge diminishing returns. Better off to have a low paid track star who draws double coverage for fear of killing them deep than paying over $30M to a true WR1.
You can roll coverage to cover a number one WR. You can scheme for one guy. But you do not have enough good corners to cover four exceptional WR’s. You throw in two pass catching TE’s, and you’ve got a back seven constantly under stress and a DC that’s gonna be up all night trying to figure out what to do.
@dereklarson5322

And then you run Jacobs when they start to finally get some coverage.
@florida1289
16 күн бұрын
That rolled coverage that a number 1 wr mandates makes defenses predictable allowing an OC to build his entire offense off that. Calvin Johnson type will always take the safety with him +the guy who's covering him + a lb underneath if it's zone. If you don't have that guy you aren't forcing the defense to do anything therefore they're doing what they want. GB probably has that guy they're just in the process of developing him.
@RyGuy1127

@dereklarson5322 honestly think Lloyd will round out this running game too if he turns out as expected. Jacobs & him could be a dangerous 1 2 punch

No tunnel vision, no double coverage on a receiver. Defenses usually look at Watson to be number one since he beats cornerbacks and safeties usually have to chime in. That will leave another receiver open for love
Nah it’s actually okay to have what we have. We don’t have to worry about the QB zeroing on one guy as a crutch. Love love love rodgers, but he did that later in his career with Davante. Its simple i see a thumbnail about Jordan Love and the Packers i click it.
Packers have a number 1 WR . And that’s C.Watson . Yes , he’s dealt with injuries , but fact of the matter is he’s someone who has to be accounted for while fully healthy . He led ALL rookie WRs in TDs .. he was tied for first in contested catches (75% catch rate on contested catches) he has elite height and speed and can take the top off of any defense . He’s a WR1 no doubt . Packers just have a different approach . Packers approach is , the same as them not passing out captain patches . Everyone is being held to a high standard and I love this new philosophy because the packers are stacked to the point that they can only pass out so many captain patches lol . Long story short , ANYONE on this team is able to be a leader ! One band , one sound ! That’s what creates a winning team . Not favoritism , but togetherness ! Packers have the tightest group of players in the league guaranteed and that will ultimately be the reason for our success !

The majority watching this are Packer fans and I think the majority of us would prefer what we have now over our offense a few years ago with 17 being arguably the best receiver in the league. We have had both but we love where we are, no divas, no selfishness, just football. It’s going to be so beautiful.

@joer1678
16 күн бұрын
Using Jerry Jones as a counter argument lol
The great thing is Love doesn't care who gets open. I will say this, Watson changes the way defenses play them. He attracts safety attention every play. When he's on the field, the offense is just different. He opens up the field like no other. He can catch one or two a game and totally change how other teams cover, he is a problem. They play ok without him because they've had to, but when he's out there it's just different. He's the #1 but in a different sense, not numbers but the attention he attracts and demands. He makes a defense account for his speed and ability. This offense has a chance to be special, all those guys have #1 skills and they are just getting started, it will sort itself out as far as who gets more touches or less, but they all can step up if needed. I see probably one getting 1,000 yards and the rest between 500 and 800, the TEs will also steal a lot of touches. Love will get 4,000 easily and who cares how he does it. He should also get 30 to 40 TDs easily, even if Jacobs and Lloyd get 15 rushing TDs combined.
The conversation is irrelevant because one or two of these Packer receivers is going to jump up into that role this season. If Watson is healthy he will easily be a #1 and Reed also has the talent to be a #1. I don't think Doubs is going to be a huge stats WR, but he makes catches in big moments, like James Jones. Wicks is also really talented, however, I don't think he will get as many reps as the top three.
Green Bay recently had the best receiver in football and a bunch of average. I'll take what Green Bay currently has over that every day. With Davante Adams teams knew who was going to beat them and the good teams were able to stop it enough to win. Now the Packers have 7 guys who can go off on any given day, all with unique skillsets, and defenses aren't sure who it's going to be. I think it's harder to scheme your defense to deal with an entire receiving core of B+ guys than it is to scheme your defense to deal with 1 S guy and a bunch of C+ guys.
I totally agree with J Love, he hit it on the head. We've already had a "Play Catch duo with Rodgers and Adams....no championships. Bring on the receiver Pack.
WR position is so deep in the draft year after year that you can consistently find good guys deeper in the draft if the team knows how to coach and knows what they want in a player. The Packers do it year after year
I recall when Davante Adams was injured & Rogers had to spread the ball around and had great success. I think with the right HC/OC and a great quarterback & receiving corps, victory happens. Not that anyone would refuse having a healthy Adams back in the lineup!
Jayden Reed will be the Packers WR1 by the end of the year
The Packers are more dangerous not focusing on one receiver…
All Packers fans agree with Love! We don’t want a clear #1 I love that defenses have to covers 3-4 WRs at all times instead of just 1
Star WRs usually don't win multiple Super Bowls. Many don't win one. Star TEs do, but when you take out Jerry Rice, there are few rings throughout the Top 10 Career Receiving Yards list. And this is mainly a statement on correlation, not causation.
I think Nico Collins is worth every penny! Talk about "big window" receivers....Collins is a MAMMOTH window receiver...from the ground all the way up to his 6'4" + 37.5 inch vertical. He is not as stocky as Andre, but he is faster, more elusive and will still hammer defenders for yards after contact. Nico Collins is probably the most overlooked, top ten receiver in the NFL today. Numbers do not lie.
Wicks, Reed and a healthy Watson all have #1 talent. These guys could be elite this season.
Did this dude say AB wasn’t as dominant as TO?? Maybe physically not but he had arguably the best 6 year stretch of a WR in history like wtf is Florio on about
If their definition of a number one receiver is a guy who constantly gets double covered, then we have 4 number one receivers on our roster. Last year, there would be weeks where Reed was getting double covered consistently. Other weeks it was Watson getting doubled when he was healthy. Lets also not forget Doubs was the best Packer receiver in the playoffs and he absolutely torched Gilmore and the Dallas defense. And I didn't even mention Melton, Heath, Wicks, or the tight ends. I got a feeling Green Bay will be just fine heading into this year.
Vikings to one guy 35 million next year packer 10 wrs on the rosters 12 million
I think these guys are underestimating just how talented the Packers WRs are. There were games last year where They has 2 of the 5-deep squad injured and then someone else had a #1 WR type game. Doubs had a few games he took over. Wicks had a few games. Hell, even the #5 WR Bo Melton had one of the best single WR games at the end of last year. Aside from 5-deep WRs, the Packers have two young Tight Ends with receiving talent, Luke Musgrave has super-talent and could be a pro-bowler some year soon. I'm just saying, that Packers team is stacked. They don't need a #1. They have near-pro bowl level young guys all over the offense and even off the bench.
When you line up with 4 WR DAWGS at the line of scrimmage, and nobody is clearly above the others, the D don’t know WHAT to do
This is late, but Simms just said the Chiefs don’t have a number one and then brought up Gronk…
Nothing wrong with Green Bay having 3 or 4 "1's" and 4 "2's" to spread the ball around with every week. What team wouldn't want their situation??? DC's have a tough time figuring who the hell is going to break out in any given game. It's a true luxury.

There's not a single weak spot in GBs offense, 2024 they're gonna have a top 5 offense
From a fantasy standpoint, too many mouths to feed. From a football standpoint, I love that every one of Green Bay's receivers could be "the guy" in any given game.
Good QB's create GREAT receivers. If Jordan Love is actually a good QB a quality receiver will emerge on the Packers roster.
Hilarious to think not having a number one receiver is a bad thing. They must have missed last season and the unprecedented success.
I agree 100% with Love!.!.! I would rather have an entire receiver group that keeps a coordinator up at night than a single receiver that they can game plan for & try to take him out of action! The biggest strength of our offense is having an entire group that could be WR1 on any other team! I genuinely believe Reed & Wicks & gonna take a massive leap forward next season but i still believe Love will find the best receiver in the best spot at the time instead forcing bad passes to the teams clear WR1 like we've seen time & time again in the NFL... Also the fact that we don't have a WR1 keeps diva drama out of our locker room! I swear thses talking heads just be talking out of their necks sometimes!.!.! G🏈 P🧀ck G🏈
The packers have 5 wrs that can get 100+ yards any given week. Jalen Reed was probably the number 1 at the end of the season but he even had games with no yards
As an added bonus does it potentially save on resigning as these young receivers get new contracts?
Christian Watson will show he’s clearly no. 1 this year anyway But the other guys are not far behind him Wicks and doubs will be phenomenal Jayden reed is an X factor Bo melton is the guy that will shred you if you forget him too
I think Christian Watson should seek a trade to the New England Patriots. He would be an impact WR1 day one there. At least they would appreciate his clear WR1 talent.
I think playing a team that has 5 "WR1s" would keep me up at night. I'd hate to be a DC that has to scheme around the clock coverage of Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvian Wicks, Bo Melton, Luke Musgrave and Malik Heath and still contain the run game of Josh Jacobs, AJ Dillon, and Jordan Love...like wtf are you supposed to do other than default to zone or zone-man?
I disagree with Love, i think having 5 dudes who can get the ball, what do you do? Either way, we'll see how it goes. It was amazing to watch last year.
When all we had was Adams, teams that had a good defense to contain the run and double Adams would beat us cus we didn’t have anyone else to rely on. Now we have all these guys that you have to cover and don’t know who we’re going to. I think Watson being healthy impacts the defense the most so you could say he’s our WR1 cus his ceiling is the highest. But he’s not gonna have the most production every game. Doubs, Reed, Wicks, and our TEs are gonna be the guys that are getting the production and Watson is there for the big play.
Reed is the 1
They answered the wrong question, was not at all what Jordan Love was saying. Packers don't have a clear cut number one receiver, that does not mean they aren't exceptionally talented and deep at the position. I would rather have a talented deep receiver room than a clear cut #1 and a handful of below average receivers.
Any WR that leads ur team in yds and TDs is a #1 receiver
I feel like Mac Jones had enough starts and time on the field to develop. He is a solid back up at this point. Same with Zack Wison. He’s had 3 seasons to prove himself. We can’t blame the coach for the interception thrown.
They forget that we got Tight Ends, like Musgrave and Kraft. All threats for defensive players 😂😂 they can't stop us all💚💛
The receiver position is turning into the RB position. You can do it with a committee. We just haven’t realized it yet
Romeo is the #1 WR in GB end of discussion.
Macs lovin' it now, he is in a SO much better place with Doug Peterson, a coach who actually knows the position!
The number one receiver should be the best decision on the field at the time. My only concern would be who can get open. Btw a number guy also creates an issue with the salary cap.
They already tried that with Rodgers and Adams. Didn’t work late in playoffs when 49ers/Bucs double and triple team Adams every year
Watson's speed is fearful to any defense
None of them have had a shot to be number 1 yet. They are in their second year with Jordan love. These are all year 1 & 2 receivers
I’d rather have a balanced offense and depth. Rodgers had a number one and they shut him off in the playoffs.
Statistically Stafford was no better without Calvin. He won the exact same number of playoff games with or without Calvin in Detroit 0.
So you would rather have 1 guy that a strikes fear in a defense than 5-6 guys that can almost do the same??? How can a defense stop an offense that has 6 guys that can make big plays for their team, I’ll answer that, you can’t!
By the end of the season they will find one.
You guys are silly how about the chiefs last year i think its harder to defend easier to to disguise what your doing offensively
Watson can be that guy to be honest as long as he stays healthy we showed we dont need a number 1 we just needed tge younger WR to get better which we all know they did.
call it what you want, it worked last year
Idk In Jordan defense I would say that Dallas cowboys game he did had multiple Wrs stepping up.
I’m glad the Packers couldn’t get a deal done with Davante Adams. They would have been in the NFC championship last year if they had.
Flores and Simms are becoming are plebeians atp. Jordan clearly articulated that any of his guys can be the #1 on a given play and situation which makes them harder to guard. #1 WRs are great but make you more predictable as well.
I don’t get this take. At one time the packers had driver, Jennings, Nelson, jones and Cobb. Adams eventually after driver was gone. There was no clear 1. Jordy eventually became a 1. Adams eventually became a 1. Someone will step up and become that guy but at this point, depth is a great problem to have
Correct me if I’m wrong, but would anyone classify Tom Brady’s SB winning teams having a #1 WR? The one time he had a true #1 in Randy Moss the Patriots never won the SB.
Still with that "Packers need a N° 1 receiver" crap? GB has like seven guys that showed they can catch passes and run routes like the best.
Ask Dallas how much they enjoyed our wide receiver by committee approach…..
Didn't even mention the clear cut favorite.. MUSKGRAVE BAYYYBEEEE. We'll be KC on offense, SF on defense. It's a lock, 110%
Not having a 1wr is great because u can't double team and every player can't guard all of them so someone will be open so I disagree with them totally IMO. GO-PACK-GO

I don't agree with Florio about the receivers (I think Sims is closer to on it), but I think some of it is also a definition problem, where "No WR1" is being treated like it's saying something negative about the quality of the receivers, rather than just describing a structure. Essentially, the Packers are actually following a known formula: all they're doing is trying to have so many pass catchers that other teams will struggle to cover them all (heck, we're basically seeing the Texans do the same thing just this year). But because they don't have someone to hold up as a token WR1(for lack of a better term) like other teams that have used this formula have done -- and because they're choosing to be totally candid about this fact -- everyone's losing their collective minds. By the way, the Packers' own history supports this model. The Packers have played in three Super Bowls and won two in the modern era, and all of those came in years where the receiver group was more of a collective unit and didn't have That One Guy. Except this current Packers receiver corps might have more collective talent than either the 96/97 or 2010 units did, and that should be a terrifying thought.
Yea I like Bo Melton. I wish the Bengals had gotten him. He has 4.38 speed too.
I think it's different when you have 4 number 2s like the Packers. On any given play their top 4 receivers can beat man coverage immediately. At that point I don't think it matters
Reed is a number #1 WR. Most people just don’t know it yet.
I believe they’re going to spend many nights up trying to figure out who is the number one just like you are going to
Any of those WR's can play like a #1. Do you want the same #1 every game or would you rather have a different #1. Where maybe they are the #1 because of the match-up you created.....
If these guys knew how talented the present GB WRs are then they would know that Love is accurate in his assessment; that the Packers are far better off with this group of receivers than having a number #1 like Adams who a defense can double cover and shut down. Rodgers proved this in the playoffs in forcing the ball too often to Adams costing them playoff games.
I think the offensive scheme of the packers will work just fine. PFT is totally wrong.
The media just wants Green Bay to fit the mold and are mad we don’t fit it we broke the mold 😁
The Packers has 4 number 2's and a 1A. We won a Super Bowl with Favre when he couldn't focus on Sharp and with Aaron when he had 5 number 2's. Yawl sound crazy!
Come on. They will double their best option on what ever option that is
Lets not also forget when your quarterback will inly go to the number 1 receiver. I saw rodgers throw to adams numerous times he should not have
