my fifth grade teacher read that book when I was in the fifth grade the whole class man.. And I never forget that Jonathan Livingston Seagull man.... Beautiful song and book and movie Neal.

One of the most special movies ever made, regardless what some filmcritics says, based on their completely ignorance on the subject and seemingly a lack of deep human wisdom.

Nearly 40 years since I discovered Johnathan and still in love. Neil, for ever you are a gem.

When Neil Diamond came on the music scene, I didn't care about anybody else.....past present or future. Nobody could compete with Neil at that time.....His music is always in style, inspiring and expressing the many moods we all go through in a lifetime. My husband and I saw him early on, in concert, in The Jazz Singer and of course Jonathan Livingston Seagull. You just have to open up your mind and watch the movie as it matches Neil's music so perfectly. Put all other worries, fears, bad stuff 'on hold' for the short period of time the movie is running.

A story that has influenced the lives millions. Every time I watch the movie or hear one of its songs it always helps me to keep things in perspective. Thanks.......................

Found the book in my mom's old stuff in my first year of high school (1994). Instantly enthralled. Soon found the LP, which she had, too (I never have seen the film). Looked up this amazing song again just now, and I still know all the lyrics, and it still fills me with happiness.

Try to find the movie. It has its moments.

Cannot remember hearing this in my head while flying home to Houston over the Rockies from Denver, but this entire album is part of my being. Thanks, Mr. Diamond! Thanks, Mr. Bach !

I absolutely love the production of this song. The arrangement and instrumentation combined with the lyrics is music perfection. Neil's vocal performance is amazing. My only complaint is the song is too short. :-(

The movie came out in 1973, Richard Bach's original novel came out in 1970. I saw the flick on the big screen when it was released. I was all of 9 years old, so the central message was a bit lost on me at the time, but the music and the beautiful images fueled my continuing love of nature. Thank you so much for these clips, VERY hard to find online.

This movie was taken with remote control glider mix with real seagulls. Those day, I read aviation magazine , they said, sometime they confused which one is glider . So they had to control wing flap little up & down to see which one responded.

Everything is beautifull in this masterpiece: the album from Neil (wich I have), the book from Strauss (wich I also have) and then movie in VHS that I have too... It was the very first film that made me cry, even though I wasn't yet formated to appreciate a work like this. Great moments to see, ear and read. Greetings from Portugal. John

You mean the book from Bach, not Strauss. Just another composer... This is also from my youth. In Lisbon. Wonderful music.

I remember when ABC Sports used the instrumental version for their coverage of the PGA tour. They also used Loves Theme by Barry White and The Love Unlimited Orchestra.

The problem is that Richard Bach himself sabotaged the movie's release by suing director Hall Bartlett. Find out more about this in my video "In defense of Jonathan Livingston Seagull (1973)", which I recently uploaded to KZread.
