These people whose friends/family call them and say “good morning, I killed those people last night “, and not a single person calls police? How? This reminded me of the 90 something years old grandma that was beaten bloody and put in the trunk. The culprits showed her to so many people but not one person felt bad enough for her to call police.

I don't know where you get your story lines from but his life described in this leading up to the murders is completely inaccurate. He didn't grow up in Orlando, his mom wasn't some amazing single mother just trying to make ends meet, he didn't struggle with moving to Indiana because of school and being bullied (he didn't even attend middle OR high school in Indiana...). NONE of those parts of his story is true. He had two drug addict parents and his father abused him. Both parents in and out of jail/prison his entire life. His step mom gave all of her children up for adoption, didn't want him around when he moved to live with his dad after his mom went to prison, treated him like garbage too. He got involved in a gang when his dad went to jail and he entered the Florida foster care system (step mom wouldn't let him live with her) and lived in group homes. NOTHING makes his crimes and murders okay. NOTHING excuses the behavior or decisions he made. But at least accurately describe his upbringing. He struggled, but not in the ways portrayed in this docuseries.

Thank you for this. This show in general is full of misinformation and the movie things are such a reach. Of course nothing excuses his actions, but the proper context makes them make sense. This show tries to paint every killer like they were bullied incels. His life was genuinely tragic and so were the actions he took. There is actually a difference between someone this deeply traumatized and someone who wants revenge for being socially inept even if sentencing ends up being similar.

The only reason I watch this series is because it has true crime cases I've never heard before. It's way too dramatic for me to really like it. The film critic didn't even go into the lesson the purge is trying to teach. Horror movies for us as a society are a test of courage and a way to examine the things that contribute to the fear depicted. For example, zombie movies could be argued as a way to work through several fears, death, disease, invasion, societal collapse. In the case of the Purge, it's about the fear of the Uncaring System. And in that context, Blumhouse's timing was perfect. Trump was coming into power then, and many people viewed Trump as throwing the entire system into chaos. He cares about NOTHING except what he can get out of a situation. And that's exactly the sort of attitude the Purge is meant to explore.

I live in indianapolis and I actually new Johnathan, the media spun this into some big juicy story that he was killing from being inspired from the movie "The Purge" this isn't true. He was just a deeply disturbed , troubled , broke kid who was going out robbing and killing people. He sent one text saying "Im purging every night" and the media took that and ran with it and spun it into some big story which it wasn't. Obviously its horrible and unforgiveable what he did but I'm just saying they spun it into something that it wasn't.

You gotta read the comments. Some episodes are pretty mild, but a lot are full of nothing but criticism. I actually enjoy reading them while watching the episode. I especially recommend the James Holmes one if you want some humor. That episode, like this one, is so bad that it's pretty much pure fiction other than the fact that James Holmes killed people at that specific movie showing.
