Jon Stewart is saying that Apple asked him not to talk to the Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan on his former Apple show 'The Problem with Jon Stewart.' Khan, who became chair of the FTC in 2021, has made a name for herself for being an outspoken critic of the business practices of Big Tech companies like Amazon and Meta and has been praised by both Democrats and Republicans for her antitrust efforts. Khan was a guest on Monday's episode of Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show,' where Stewart made the revelation.

It shocks me that Apple even signed on Jon Stewart, given all the sketchy places they have their hands in.

It's *always* difficult to have a Jon Stewart around. That's why we have/need/love him. He's a consummate professional, excruciatingly intelligent and preternaturally tapped in to the worlds around him (ie not just the one his family experiences from their combined efforts). If you read that as a compliment, you are correct; hence his cred and popularity/ratings. If you read that as a terrifying threat to those who make $ directly or indirectly (hello, advertisers!!) from ratings and/or The Way Things Are, you are correct. That's why Oliver, Colbert and Meyers (both particularly thru and since the pandemic) and the much-missed Sam Bee all have/had such well-regarded shows among people prepared to Q themselves. It's also a big problem for any political party/force that wants power - not always easy to get all those thinkers to agree, even on terms to agree on. You have to have a scary enuff alternative that the Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend - congrats US on meeting the threshold...
