約12年ぶりとなるソロ・アルバム『GONE TO STAY』を10月28日にリリースしたジョン・ノーラム。ヤング・ギター11月号ではこの作品にまつわる最新インタビューを掲載している。これに際し、ジョンがヨーロッパのライヴ会場のバックステージにて撮影した機材紹介動画を提供してくれた。
誌面に掲載したインタビューをご覧いただければわかるように、彼は自身の機材の話になると、とことん語り倒してしまうタイプ。この動画は全体の尺こそ短いものの、ジョンがギターやアンプ、エフェクトを解説するその口調から、機材に対する愛情の深さが伝わってくるはずだ。

人柄の良さが見て取れる。 さらっとした説明かと思いきや、意外と細かな解説をしてくれる辺り 本当に機材が好きなんだと思う。
フェンダージャパンにBOSSのDS-1か なんか嬉しいですね
メインギターがフェンジャパのストラト ボスのDS-1 ＭＸＲディストーション これらで十分なんですな。

Marshall Plexi all on 10 with cables into the inputs but they are not connected to the speaker cabinets or powered on. 😄
メインのストラトがフェンジャパ、しかもバスウッドボディだと割と廉価なモデルですよね。メタル系の音作りだとクセの無いバスウッドが使いやすいのカモですが、なんだか嬉しいです。 Vやレスポールのテールピースをアルミ製とか、細かい説明もとても親切ですね♪ ところで金◯の付いたギターはどれ？ (//∇//;)?

実は日本製フェンダーは安いけど質が良かったっていうから 昔のUSA製にかなわないって評価はブランドだったんだと思う

Burnyのレスポールもたまに使われていますね。

Looks like the PLEXIs are all dummies. He's using the Marshall Jubilee as the single amp with MXR echo in the loop !!

7:58. These are dummy heads. They aren't even powered or connected to the cabs. The only small cables that go into them come from 9 V or 12 V power supply, which I assume is, for powering LED's that light up on the front panel.

フェンジャパすごいね。しかもバスウッドなのか。 おそらくリフィニッシュとかもしてないはず。なんだか嬉しいような、なんでヨーロッパにフェンジャパが？？って気分 現地だと輸入分ジャパンも値段高くてそれなりのブランドになってるのかな

If you don’t get that”everything on 10”is a joke then you don’t have a sense of humor.Spinal Tap’s Marshall amps goes to 11 though.

Yeah, those Plexi's are just for show. They had small wires going to them, which makes me think they have LED's that light up to fool the audience. Yngwie does the same thing. Still looks cool on stage tho.

昔はイングヴェイのことを「あんなに変われるなんて不思議だ」って言ってたくらいなんだけどね。
ギターの話とは関係ありませんが、なんだか最近のノーラムさんは、はっきり言って中年太りがひどいですね…(涙涙涙)
