@@tarci2994 one reason why chokes like this are scary is because it’s harder to tell when the loses consciousness. Because if you hold a choke too long hold you can kill someone. People can feel when their limbs are broken. Someone you can even hear it happen. But chokes are quiet and sometimes hard to see. That’s why refs will grab their hands. If they feel no pressure they’ll stop the fight. Good chance Lyoto was unconscious 4-5 seconds before the ref even realized

For real, everyone who fought Jones was never the same again.

Jon entered the UFC only 9 months after he was introduced to MMA, began fighting world class elite fighters and demolishing them non stop…different type of athlete but man I just wish he’d get his act together. His sociopathy makes him have a lot of irresponsibility and risk taking behavior.

Those guys were trying to knock each other out long before then, and Lyoto has legit one-punch knockout power. They aren't concerned with hitting the mat when they're choked out. The mat is their playground. I'd agree with you if JJ body-slammed him while he was choked out. As well, Lyoto should've tapped if he were that concerned - instead, he pulled a YOLO and got CTFO.

This fight has elite fight iq from both guys...Lyoto is the 1st man to ever win a round against Jones by countering Jones' leg kicks with punches...Jones adjusting on the fly by feinting that low kick and throwing and overhand to knock him down

Machida was winning in the standin up..good atack and defense...but in the ground, that elbow in the face and the clinch were the key for winning jones

yeah, every fight fan who watched back then will remember this.

Machida is already old when this fight happens. Machida now is a shadow of himself 10 years ago.

Gotta give it to Machida for beating Jones in strikes despite reach disadvantage. Jones' trump card was always his spinning elbows. It drastically changes the fight and defense against it has not been studied much because nobody else had used it as effectively as Jones. His first fight with Gustafsson was an example of this. Machida was already broken because of the elbows by the time he got choked. Jones' elbows are his most dangerous weapons.

I always refer to this fight when people say Francis can beat Jones. If Jones still has those elbows, Francis will experience cutting so bad when they fight, it won’t be good🩸. Coming off an Injury and facing a warmed up Jones (if he takes the Stipe fight), spells disaster for Ngannou.
