UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on November 20, 2010, at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It was the first UFC event in the Metro Detroit area since UFC 9.
During the build-up to UFC 123, it appeared as if Jackson was doing little more than coming to collect a paycheck. It should have been a pleasant surprise to see that Jackson looked much better in this fight than he did against either Rashad Evans or Keith Jardine.
He also fought with a good gameplan, cutting off the cage, and effectively stopping Machida from being able to pick him apart at range, which contrasted with the prefight talk where Jackson spoke as if he'd already resigned himself to losing.
Jackson's postfight admission that he thought he lost the fight was not exactly something new for the man who once tried to give his winner's trophy away following a controversial win over Murilo Rua. Still, it's nice to see that kind of display of honesty and sportsmanship.

beyond inaccurate. pretty clear that rampage won rounds 1 and 2, and machida won round 3. by simple math, that is 2 rounds to 1. IDK how it was a split decision. if you only won 1 round, you lose. not sure how landing one clean combo would win you a fight.

I am watching this in its entirety after I seen a video of rampage saying how he didn’t think he won this fight and how Machito whooped his ass but after watching it rampage did a pretty good job, especially compared to how other fighters did during that time

I feel as though had Machida had 30 seconds more in round 2 he'd have taken it by TKO. I agree Jackson did well though, especially considering how many of his peers at the time got absolutely schooled by Machida, despite Lyoto being quite undersized for the LHW division. It was very rare he was the bigger man in the fight, even when he fought at middleweight. Jackson was able to assert some control because of his wrestling and weight advantage, but he paid for it by "getting his ass whooped" every inch of the way. It wasn't all that one sided though, Rampage's counter punches were on form and his power was the deterrent that stopped him getting swarmed more than he did.

O problema do lyoto é que ele nao domina o centro, foi isso que desempatou. Ele só fica indo pra tras se esquivando, diante disso achei justo o final. Rampage buscou mais a luta

@@euvouteprocessaresse argumento é vdd o Jackson procurou mais a luta. Mais se olharmos por esse lado o adesanya teria perdido o seu cinturão bem mais cedo do que perdeu!!! Pois o mesmo utilizava essa estratégia do lyoto de bater e sair... e tmb temos que levar em consideração que essa estratégia é a mais efetiva numa luta de 2 profissionais pois qualquer golpe bem encaixado é lona! E o único problema disso é que a luta fica muito chata, por isso te aconselho a fazer como eu e assistir as antigas lutas do pride.

I love comming back to these old fights the LHW division was so stacked with talent around this time made me into a fan of ufc
It’s crazy how I never noticed footstomping until Usman did it granted I’ve never seen anybody do it as much as him, but every so often I catch it

I think Lyoto Should have retired after beating CB Dollaway. He lost to Chris Weidman as his last shot at winning a title, but he wouldn't win a relevant fight after that. Eryk Anders isn't good and Vitor was old

Machida does well against wrestlers: Ortiz, Rashad, Bader, Couture, Sonnen. He beat Hendo too (if you consider him a wrestler ) and arguably won this fight against Rampage.
