The UFC Light Heavyweight Championship bout between the champion Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira, briefly linked as the event headliner at UFC 169, UFC 170 and UFC 171 served as the main event.
Jones won the bout via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, and 50-45).

Hell yeah, he was getting killed, and taking a lot miserable punishment at many points of the fight. Glover is a very very tough guy for sure. Most guys would not have kept in there withstanding that beating the whole time.
Before round 5, Jones’ coach said “you’re putting on an artistic, masterful performance, it’s beautiful to witness” and I got goosebumps. Everyone watching that night knew it too

Its a given that most if not all of Jones opponents were likely on some peds also at some point so the effect of his ped use is kind of overblown. There's tons of guys that use peds that don't amount to champions much less all time great fighters. You cant say Jon is great because of peds. That's a simple minded way to look at what makes him successful.

I've never seen a mouthpiece get hit out of somebody mouth so much. And instead of going in for the kill like most other fighters would, Jon let him put it back in. Respect

It was methodical. Jon was having a party by dismantling his opponent, then going into the phone booth & getting hit just to feel being hit, then dishing out more & more punishment. It’s a like watching a supreme predator hunt its prey, then toy with its preys dying carcass. This was a 1 or 2 round fight that Jones intentionally took the entire 5 rounds. Tyson was vicious, but he didn’t play with his victims like Jones. No fighter, that I’ve ever seen has.

He may have gotten slightly stronger (i wouldnt know because he's always been one of the strongest in lhw) but he's also lost a bit of his fitness. He's always been a beast. If you actually watched his fights you'd realise he's pretty much still the same. The only dudes that have beat him in ufc are Jiri, Jon, Corey, Gustafsson, Rumble and phil davis. He'd probably beat phil davis but id put my money on any of those other 5 if they fought again.

Jones was unbelievable in his run through of the LHW division. Beat up all the greats that stood in front of him, child's play really. Strikers couldn't hang and wrestlers may get a take down but Jones is getting right back up.

Glover was and are a war machine, pushing forward all the times he enters the Octagon, no fear ever showed in his eyes, and if it was the same rule like in the early days of UFC, the ”no time length of the fight” he would be dominated anyone after like 3hours or more 😅if needed, big respect for him🙏👌👍🏻

Brazil is the land of mma fighters. Wherever the fight game goes or however it evolves, Brazil is there and one step ahead. Age still means little to Glover. He was a beast then and he's a beast now. The only thing that currently beats Glover is Glover. Apart from that, father time will finally sit Glover down for good. Respect to the elite natural athleticism, striking ability, and aggression of Jones. The negatives of his are his repeated usage of his fingers in the face of his opponents and repeated positive testing for illegal peds. It's not about whether fighters are using peds, it's the fact that Jones is someone that has repeatedly tested positive for using illegal peds in his sport where they are banned. Why add that to your professional fighting history when it can be avoided?

@@ricardoroque3415 Mike Tyson had all the checkboxes. Masterclass footwork, power, speed, precision, everything. The perfect storm of a boxer. Jon Jones hit all the checkboxes for a complete MMA fighter. Excellent in every aspect including striking and grappling. He wasn't just winning against blackbelts, olympic wrestlers and former champions, he was dominating them. LHW was stacked with straight killers in his time. No one in the UFC has ever come close to Jones. If you know, you know.

@@felipearevalo2618 If you talk about boxing in terms of pure domination in every aspect, then prime Tyson is one of the greatest boxers of all time. Just to name one, he murdered guys like Holmes, who, contrary to popular opinion, was one of the most skilled and best HW boxers of that era. He was in a whole different parallel compared to the other ELITE fighters, and it wasn't long after Cus died that he started spiraling down with legal troubles, etc that ultimately affected his career. Tyson was a perfect storm and was a master in every aspect there is to be in a boxer. Same with Jones in MMA, without question. Very similar stories.

Jon Jones is versatile fighter, his sidekick, knees, grappling skills, kicks and punches and constant pressure he put on his opponents makes him very difficult combatant to go against.

I forgot how great a fight this was. Glover is just a tad too slow but a great technician. His uppercuts were so vivious but Jones is a Master. He displayed his mastery of the craft in every round.

Jones walked thru a lot of solid hits by Glover, who is KNOWN for knockout power. It really surprised me...just wish I could see Glover fight him when he was Jones' age😊

Jones does avoid a lot of punches, which is a very underated part of his skill set. He gets hit, sometimes quite a few times; Reyes, Gustafson...but he gives back as well.
2:13 is crazy and that takedown defense after that axe kick was even crazier

Adesanya no doubt is a talented fighter but Jones is too much for him, specially with Jones wrestling.... in MMA anything can happen but to beat Jones ...tough fight for Adesanya. And no reach advantage for Adesanya in that fight if happened

In my view to get the undisputed status of goat in the entire mma fan community he should had to avoid his eye poke defense plus debate over roids use. I dont talk about what he did few times to finish in jail for me he doesnt matters. So for me he is in all serious talks for goat status but he will remain forever for a lot of people as not legit

What are you talking about? Like much of the MMA community, I despise Jones but would never dispute that he is the best to ever do it. I've never heard someone say that Jones isn't the Achilles of the octagon. He is an absolute killer and the best to ever do it
