With that big of a reach advantage in a bigger division aswell it plays a huge factor. But Jones couples that with his fucking savant - like fighting instincts. I personally think his long limbs looks goofy as hell, but no doubt it is effective.

Crazy to think how Jones is already a legendary fighter from "back in the day", but is the same age as Usman, Pereira, a year or 2 older than guys like Volkanovksi, colby, adesanya. Dude is still younger than most top ranked HW's and LHW's. If he wantedhis carreer could be only halfway finished and he's already hall of fame GOAT status.

I know this is a weird comparison but I feel that it's his body type and the way he capitalizes on his reach and leverage, amongst other things obviously, is what makes him so dangerous. Abe Lincoln, oddly enough, was a monster when it came to wrestling bouts (it was one of his favorite past times) and due to his body type (crazy reach/lanky yet strong/understood leverage) he went virtually undefeated for hundreds of matches (299 and 1). Granted these weren't Olympic cards or "Pro" wrestling like WWE or what not, they were really unregulated and slightly shady yet some rules were enforced. It makes sense when you figure they (Bones and Abe) had relatively the same stature and body type. The most important variable is the ability to apply leverage using their fight I.Q.'s as well.

Same old argument from people who know little about fighters and combat sports in General. I am fairly sure 95% of the fighters are on something and Jon is no exception. Even Islam has admitted been given "tablets" in his early samba days training in Russia and I am pretty sure McGregor is on some form of Steroids to. I mean even Diaz has spoken out about it a few times and there must be some element of truth to it when the subject constantly rears it's head. The fighters are only tested when they are in active competition so who knows what they take when they are not part of the testing pool like Connor McGregor. By time he fights the Punch bag chandler his system will be clean again.

Jones was arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers in the early morning hours of Sept. 24, per the arrest report. When he was taken into custody, Jones "became irate and smashed his head onto the front hood" of a police vehicle, causing a medium-sized dent and paint chipping, according to the report. That led to the initial felony charge of injuring or tampering with a vehicle. The police were called by a security guard at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino who encountered a crying woman inside the hotel. The woman told the security guard she was afraid to go back to her room and was taken to the security office. The woman told police that Jones was a "little" physical with her, touching the back of her head and pulling her hair. She said Jones didn't hit her, though officers saw blood on the women's clothing and a bump on her lip with dried blood. The woman said her lips were very dry. Police also observed blood on the bed sheets inside the hotel room, according to the report.

To this day i've never seen an MMA fighter do the Roy Jones hands behind the back peekaboo punches like Jon Jones did to Glover. And he did to Glover while Glover was in his prime on a 21 fight win streak, to Glover who is a power punching boxer, and he did it in a championship fight. Jones is once in a generation.

Well, not a perfect man is a huge understatement he hit a pregnant women's car while on drugs and flee the scene, domestic violence, tampering with a vehicle, multiple DUI, fired a gun in his car. Not to mention he is CHEAT caught taking PED's multiple times which means he is out of any GOAT conversation immediately. The weird culture we live in where people find cheater, drug addict, alcoholic, and criminal more appealing than some role model guys like GSP for example.

Its so damn disappointing that he’s put himself in a position where people can just clown on him, and criticize him. He’s undoubtedly the most talented fighter we’ve ever seen in MMA, and sure you can make the steroids argument which is fair, but back at that time most fighters were on the juice, and on top of that I think Jon is simply just levels above everyone with or without PEDS. I still set aside all of the trouble he’s been in, and just objectively look at his resume+talent & to me he is still the best of all time. I guarantee he wins the heavyweight title, and I don’t think there’s a single fight that I want to see more than Jones vs Ngannou.
