Excellent video, thank you for posting it! I saw them play this song three times on the 2023 tour, and it was magical each time. As good as this is, no recording can completely capture the experience of hearing this masterpiece live. When the bass synth kicks in at 13:08, the whole room shakes! It was one of the most emotional moments I have ever experienced at a concert, and it moved me to tears each time. I'm so glad Jon got together with this amazing group of musicians and came out on the road to play this music the way it should be played. So, this is wonderful, as was the Todmobile version, fantastic. However, I have recordings of the genuine Yes, and have been present at Yes concerts where this song, and many others, were beautifully rendered. In particular this song, and And You And I were potentially mind and earth shattering, depending upon who was playing and how tuned in the band was at a given performance. And not only these particular songs, either. You never knew when the True Yes was going to spring forth from any song and drop your jaw through the floor. Summer 2002, Don’t Kill The Whale @ Jones Beach NY was one such occasion. I never really even liked the song that much. Yet it was as though Yes were teaching it to us anew that night. There were also other righteous performances that night and other nights. This, I think is what I loved the most about this band, whom I might love the most out of any bands from those or any other times. You just never knew when they were going to suddenly rise up and be the band we’ve always knew they were. But you knew when it was happening. One moment it was a simple rock show, and lthe next it was a Yes Show and everyone was laid low and lifted up high together. Love The Band Geeks with my hero Jon and still love my hero(they’re all my heroes) Steve Howe, but there’s never been, in my experience, anything like the sight or the sound of Yes at their best, onstage. They did it to me over and over again. I will never forget it, or them.
