The reason I love watching Joolz is because thru him I can travel and learn about my homeland...a place I will never be able to visit. I was adopted young and brought to America and now I am unable to travel. Thank you Joolz and Bless you .

Lived by canals my entire life and I've seen how much more care the canals are given nowadays compared to how they were when I was a kid. They are looked after by wonderful volunteers and the River Trusts.

Please Joolz, do more jolly days on the canal. This has been a wonderful day .

Visited London in late September 2019. Happened upon the canal while exploring around Paddington/Little Italy. Ended up having one of the best afternoons of my life walking the tow path to Camden in fabulous weather. Saw most of these landmarks mentioned but didn’t know their histories/stories until now. So glad I ‘happened upon’ this video - many thanks !!

A big thanks to Mr Carradine for the accordion and old-time songs!

Thanks Joolz for a trip into memory lane, I was borne almost 80 years ago in Woodchester Street (not there any more I think), the Paddington basin and the Reagents Canal were my playground, my word how it has changed.

I managed to get a boat into the Basin back in the 70s, it wasn't easy. There was some boating organisation who would give you a plaque for doing so.

So happy to see Monika and Anna out with you enjoying the day. Gave them a chance to enjoy the above water scene. Pip, Pip!

Salish Sea Quest Yes, wouldn’t it! They had to space us out because of Covid, though, so less people allowed in the boat. I’m sure we will get together soon. x

When I was 16 I lived on a houseboat at Ducks Walk, Richmond. That was a very long time ago, brings back memories 👍🏻

One of the best walks is the one where you let the water be your legs. I thought this was one of JoolsGuides' best. And the picture of the grumpy infant Joolz with Santa was high entertainment.

I hope they find a way to pickle your brains without damaging them when you depart. In some of your favourite ale! It's amazing! I hope they erect a statue in memory of you. I was born in London, and only know a little thimbleful and have learned more from your videos than I ever dreamed possible! Your memory is truly incredible! You make it all so amusing too!

John Masefield wrote the book The Box of Delights which was one of my fave Christmas programmes as an 80's kid

One of my favorite of your tours/videos and worth the wait. In all my visits to London I've never walked or boated on the canals. This will be on the list next visit...whenever the world allows us US citizens back.

Loved this! I was in London in summer, 2019 and went to Camden market. I discovered the canal there and walked for miles. My favorite sight (being from California) was seeing the little boats go by -- in the rain -- with the passengers all holding umbrellas and having a fine old time. What a wonderful slice of English life, I thought. Never let a little rain get in the way of your fun!

Hi Joolz. Just discovered this channel; it's terrific! Walking a narrow boat through the tunnel was known as "legging it." Swap you that one for being "on the wagon."

Inside to love walking down there when I lived in Primrose Hill.

Great to see that the abandoned aviary will be the site of the relocated House of Lords.

Hello, two years ago we walked the little Venice. It was our first trip to London. as we walked we turned off to visit Abbey Road studios and Primrose Park until reaching Camdem. congratulations on your video. Leonardo from Buenos Aires.

It's from walking a barge through tunnels coined the phrase, "leg it." And, "toe rag," also comes from barge workers from walking through tunnels as they wrapped their feet in cloths.

@@fins59 Through Standedge Tunnel the bargee would walk his horse over the hills while he paid a person to walk his barge through the tunnel. The barge walker would take 2 or 3 barges in tow . Hence the derogatory terms of leg it and toe rag!

Joolz actually all the EHV cables along the canal footpaths are no longer energised. A guy I know who has a permanent mooring at Little Venice told me during the Winter when the path got snowed/iced over the heat from the buried cables kept the towpaths clear. The National Grid have built a set of tunnels about 30M deep from Willesden Substation down to Kensal Green (which feeds Crossrail) then on to the St Johns Wood Substation then carries on across London. National Grid have published several videos about this. Also one of the Villas you saw was owned by the Brunei Royal Family internally they are not that great but the Canal Side garden is definitely very nice indeed.

I feel really old because of this, as I can remember seeing lots of working barges plying the Grand Union & Regents, many of which were horse drawn.

One of my favorite walks... fond memories. Glad they are redoing the Aviary.

Omg I grew up here !! Behind crockers pub on Orchardson St . My nan lived in the block overlooking the weeping willow in little Venice.

At 7:45. 'Coals to Newcastle.' is a whole different story. A Gentleman in America had a ship load of Coal and nowhere to sell it. Some wag suggested he take it to Newcastle in England. He did and when he arrived at Newcastle there was a Coal strike and he managed to off load his cargo at a handsome profit.

Fun and interesting video and, for us mudlarking fans, so nice to see Monika and Anna as well. Joolz introduced me to mudlarking by having an episode about it and I have been hooked ever since. The boat trip looks like great fun and so happy to see the area has improved so much.
